it ended w/ an 80 yd TD drive to give his team a 4 pt lead late in the game. you are talking about the hail mary? which wasn't intercepted by the way. Peyton had more talented offenses and Ds just as good as Brady's. Peyton's postseason resume is putrid w/ the talent he has had to work with. I don't consider Brees on the Brady/Rodgers/Peyton level by the way. Of the other 3 one has been a consistent playoff choker. all that talent? he had average talent around him on O. Peyton's Ds were as good as Brady's Ds, I hate that excuse. yeah, Peyton would have turned Chaz Schilens into an all pro QB was the least of our problems in 2012 as bad as our QB was that year. No QB would have succeeded and considering peyton has never had even mediocre weapons having the worst weapons in the league wouldn't have been good for him. Overpaying Peyton w/ the weapons we had would have set the franchise back 5-10 years. he couldn't win w/ Denver's immense talent, could only win once w/ Indy's immense talent(when D carried) and he was going to win w/ our talent? seriously?
It had nothing to do with hess. it had to do w/ BP who had no plans of coaching 3 seasons here, the only reason he did was b/c hess died. That was before teams were almost annually going from bad to great almost overnight, it wasn't even realistic to think the Jets could be a SB contender by 1998 even though it turned out that way.
Brady had 30 seconds in the first Giants SB and a minute in the 2nd Giants SB. So did Brady choke or the defense fail? Chase Blackburn intercepted Brady. Okay when Brady had Moss, Welker, etc why did he fail to win a SB?
29 secs left and 74 yds to go needing a TD in XLII 57 secs left and 80 yds to go needing a TD in XLVI(w/ 1 TO) how could he not lead them to TDs on those drives! Blackburn intercepted Brady earlier in the game, one of 2 INTs in 5 SBs. Know how many Peyton has in 3? FOUR including 2 returned for TDs. Just another example, Peyton doesn't even have a positive TD to INt ratio in any of his SBs. Amazing. Moss is a great WR, Welker is the most overrated player in the game and they were 2 mins from a SB win. He only had Moss playing like a HOF WR for 1 season. manning has had those types every year since day 1 in this league. and Brady went undefeated and made another SB when he had those weapons.
How quickly did Brady got his team in field goal position in the Rams SB? Bottomline he choked! Peyton couldn't win with great talent and it's Peyton's fault for that so in my opinion Brady should've won 2 SB's with Moss and another with Gronk, Hernandez, Welker. Once again great talent but he couldn't win a SB with that. He choked! He choked with all that talent in 2012 at home in the AFC championship game. At least Peyton didn't get blown out by the Ravens unlike Brady at home. Once again he choked!
you think the end of the Rams SB was the same as the end of the Giant SBs? Brady should have won one, if his D could have held a lead he would have 2 more. when did peyton put his team in a chance to win 2 more SBs? Peyton got shut out by the 2002 Jets and I don't think you want to compare blowouts.
Peyton gave his team a lead and the DB gave up the game tying TD. You spin that as Peyton choked. Well Brady choked in both Giants SB's. One minute to go and no time outs just like the Rams SB, 30 seconds to go and all 3 timeouts in first Giants SB. Brady just choked!! I'm conceding that Peyton choked in ALL his playoff losses. What I'm saying is that Brady choked in all his playoff losses.
The reason that game was even close was b/c of peyton. In regulation 2 Tos led to 14 pts, at the end of the game he needed 1 1st down to win it, he couldn't and gave Bal and chance and they tied it. In OT he threw an INT that set up the GW FG for Bal in double OT. SB XXVI: Game TIED, 1:21 to play needing a FG to win starting at NE 17. SB XLII: NE TRAILED by 3 at NE 26 to :29 secs to play SB XLVI: NE TRAILED by FOUR w/ 57 secs left at own 20 w/ 1 TO left. XLII he had a shot but it was extremely difficult, XLVI he had no shot. Brady has choked but not nearly as much as Peyton. peyton does it almost annually.
Nah man Brady choked. Brady has won games with literally no time left ('13 Saints game) so I don't want to hear he had no time. In the first SB they couldn't score any points which helped get the Rams back in it.
you compare a home game in the reg season to 29 secs left in the SB? the gameplan was conservative so they didn't give that high powered Rams O any short fields. The D blew an historic 4th qtr lead and Brady and the O rescued them from that epic collapse.
He won games with little time left. Just like Brady has led drives and gave his field goal kickers good field position in both the regular season and SB. It's Brady's fault why the Rams got back in it by not putting up scores. And going 3 and out.
All this drama because i said Rodgers and Manning have to be ranked the top 2. I mean i still put Brady 3, it's not like i ranked him 8th
so you think 29 secs left inside their 30 was a slam dunk? I guess it would be interesting if Peyton could keep his team in those SB losses to be in such a position but using that flawed logic what does it tell you that den took a knee to go to OT against Bal 2 years ago? they had 31 seconds(more time!), were at home and needed just a FG to win. where are all these drives where he gave his kickers good FP? the '05 div rd where he had 2nd and 3rd and 1 and took 2 shots at EZ rather than getting closer than 46 yds? the 50+ yarder in OT at Miami '00? where are all these situations where he set up his K to win games?
No slam dunk but Brady didn't execute so therefore he choked! They took the knee because they didn't want Peyton choking '10 vs Jets 05' vs Steelers 00' vs Dolphins The defense gave up scores after the field goal (Jets, Dolphins) or the kicker missed (Steelers) But it doesn't matter Peyton choked in all those games.
'10 Jets, needed ONE 1st down to end it. couldn't do it and set up a 50+ yd FG. watched mark sanchez do w/ less talent around him what Peyton couldn't do vs. Pitt. '05 Pitt, had obvious INT overturned, after giving up ball on downs inside their 5 the D forced fumble and returned it to midfield and he still couldn't get in chip shot range. '00 Mia, against legendary choking D led, led O to 3 pts final 3 qtrs. and set up 49 yd Fg on grass which set up Miami to win it w/ great FP. keep those excuses coming though.
Now this changes the dynamics of the debate in another direction. Brady had a 7-3 lead and couldn't put the game away allowing the Giants to take the lead twice. Brady gave 47 yards to his kicker in the SB he made his kick. Peyton's kicker missed a 46 yarder. But of course Peyton should've got closer so yup Peyton choked. He made a 4 point lead a 7 point lead. Too bad he choked and lost that 2000 Dolphins playoff game.
he led his O on an 80 yd drive to score a TD and give his D a 4 pt lead w/ 2 mins left. he didn't have a great game but when it came time to make plays late he made them. Brady's team was tied and he couldn't get closer than 47 after getting the ball inside his 20. manning was behind getting the ball near MIDFIELD and had 2nd and 3rd and 1 from the Pitt 28. he easily could have made the kick a chip shot like mark Sanchez did at Indy in the 2010 playoffs. leading your O to 3 pts in the final 3 qtrs. against a legendary choking D is an awful job. In playoff losses from 1998-2000 the Miami D gave up an AVERAGE of 35 PPG so yes he did keep them from winning that game.
Cool so why didn't Brady make the kick easier for his kicker? There was time for another throw/run play to get within 40/37 yards. Luckily he made the field goal so it's a moot point. Brady led his o to 7 points in 2 quarters in the SB against the Giants. And no points in the 4th quarter until late. According to you the Jets defense was overrated and he was only able to score a TD and put his kicker in FG range for 9 points. And not to mention Brady lost to the choker himself Manning so what does that say about Brady?
Brady vs. SL: 2 TD underdog in SB tie game ball at NE 17 NO timeouts 1:21 to play Brady was a 1st year starting QB Peyton vs. Pitt: Indy 8.5 pt favorite at HOME trailing by 3(thanks to bad replay and D keeping them in game and giving them chances) ball at Indy 42 THREE timeouts 1:01 to play Peyton was 8 year vet see the difference in the situations yet? Brady vs. NYG failed but even when failing he led his O 80 yds in the final mins to give his team a 4 pt lead. Let's compare that to Peyton's SB losses: vs. NO: trailing by 7 in 4th, throws INT for TD to end game vs. Sea: game was over by halftime Brady lost to Manning twice in postseason, the first time reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney were his main weapons. the 2nd time Julian Edelman was his main weapon. Peyton has NEVER had to go into a postseason w/ top talent like that. He wouldn't get anywhere near a title game if that was the case.
Playoff games are random samples where anything can happen. Judging a QB's career based on a handful of random games against their entire body of work (good or bad) is dumb. (That's how you end up overrating a Mark Sanchez for example, basing your assessment on a few random games instead of their body of work) Brady isn't more or less of a choker than Peyton Manning, they are both all-time greats, two of the best QBs that ever lived on this earth. I prefer Brady myself, even though I hate that SOB, I admire the way he plays. I admire how much of a student of the game Manning is though. People who knock him for some random playoff losses are so ridiculously dumb or biased or both.
