that game last night was precicely why i will always remain a pessimistic fan. that fucker Prust better be suspended. Carcillo is an idiot, but maybe linesman should try not roughing up a pissed off hockey player. this rookie goalie is making my worst fears come true. steps was playing better.....a damn shame. we lose Sunday ......and we are done.

Broken jaw for Stepan. If that was Crosby or a high profile player, that would have been a lot more than a two game suspension.

Carcillo doesn't deserve 10 games. Utter bullshit.

Still trying to figure out how the refs totally missed that call which led to all the other b.s. which AV summed up correctly in the post-game presser.

I'm fine with that. Let someone useless like Dorsett do it. Just charge him, board him, and beat the crap out of him while he's down.

If we are going strictly by the NHL rules, the suspensions to Prust and Carcillo were what they deserved.

Using common sense, Carcillo didn't deserve a suspension, and Prust deserved at least ten games. Carcillo by accident hit a ref with an elbow. There was no intent at all to do it. Prust had the intent to injure Stepan. His comments after game one told everyone that he was going to injure someone on the Rangers, and thats what he did. The NHL should have stepped in suspended him for 10-40 games for purposely trying to injure a player and then following through with it by injuring that player badly. Thats as bad as anything you will see. The hit wasn't as bad as you will see, but I think the circumstances need to be considered as well. Not only did Prust illegally hit Stepan, but there was obvious intent to injure and Stepan got injured. The NHL doesn't know what they are doing. He got a game for the hit being .9 of a second late and one game for the injury to Stepan.

Unbelievably, I read somewhere earlier that one of the refs told Richards that he thought the hit on Stepan was clean. If that doesn't tell you what you need to know about the state of refereeing in the NHL, then nothing will. That referee needs to be suspended for an inability to do his job.

Stepan could play in game four, but I don't think he will be effective playing with a full cage and a broken jaw. Brassard should be back, and he needs to be back with Zucc and Poo. The Richards line has been good and needs to stay the same. You could move Dom Moore up to a line with Kreider and Nash, and bring Fast into the lineup by moving Boyle inside to play center or you could play JT Miller with Nash and Kreider without switching up the lines. I guess it depends how much AV trusts JT Miller. I think he is a better player than Fast, and he is best playing at his natural center position, but he is a defensive liability. In the playoffs, its hard to have a defensive liability in there at center. Fast is reliable defensively, but doesn't do much else.

I worry that Nash and Kreider could lose all their momentum if they have to play with a new center. The Rangers might also miss Stepan on the PK. He's one of their best at killing penalties.

The Rangers are still going to take this series 4-2. I've been watching this year for the first time in a long time and they've peaked perfectly. They're the better team on the ice at this point, even when they lose a close one like the OT game.

Watching the first Montreal game was a revelation. It took me back to that team in the late 70's that made a run. That team was not the better team on the ice though. The Canadians had Lemaire and Lafleur and Shutt and that line was just much faster and better than anything the Rangers could put on the ice. This year's team has at least two lines that are just faster and better than the Canadians at this point. Even with Stepan out they're a better team.

Good post they are the better team, sans the chicanery, that's the Habs only chance because they can't beat us at hockey...1 little sidenote Dust Is a goon and 99% useless but he is one of their best penalty killers...Rangers in 6, deliver the pain!

Exactly Joe, 4 officials on a 200 ' surface and the puck was closeby, this Is another reason NHL REFS are the worst of any major sport

I'm just copying this from another forum but I agree 100%:

"I'm sick and tired of the whining from Montreal. SICK OF IT. Today you had Therrien complaining about our assistants watching their practice, Briere b*tching about McD getting away with slashes, and Gallagher basically saying Stepan isnt hurt. Then Therrien says in French that 'we know Brassard is playing tommorrow, but we know what and where his injury is'.

We need to shut these fools up. Their entire team is a joke and they have embarassed themselves with the way they have acted in this series. I can start to see why Lucic acted the way he did in the handshake line."

Montreal acted the way that you would expect in that series against Boston. They are a bunch of pussies who will get tough right when the refs come in to break up any fights. They'll deliver cheap shots and words in the media, but when its time to really fight, they get scared. I think we've all seen Slewbban run from fights before. He talks a lot, but is always too scared to engage in a fight.
