Simms can't be stashed on the PS. He was active very game last year. 6 games is the limit I think. If you are active for 6 games you are no longer PS eligible. It's actually based on accrued seasons of NFL experience and one of the ways to do that is to be active for 6 games.

He just doesn't understand the argument that he is making. He'd be a good Detroit Lions fan.

Simms is a decent developmental talent who be #3 for a team like the Jags. He fits their QB prototype better than ours by a long shot.

I usually dont get involved in these types of hate threads but i have to chime in here!

Idzik has done a GREAT job thus far.

    1. He adapted very well with Rex and has made him HIS guy. They have formed a solid understanding that seems to work for both.
    2. His first draft was very good with the potential to be great. Sheldon, Dee, Geno etc etc. His second draft is yet to be determined but IMO has very good potential with Pryor, Amaro and Saunders.
    3. Cutting the Sanchez and Holmes and using that money to add CJ2K, Vick and Decker in the FA market was A+.

These are just a few points and there are so many more... IMO he has got the best out of Rex and done well in the FA market and in the draft!! Bottom Line!!

Trading Revis with his God awful contract was nothing but stellar, and we almost got a third rounder this year till the Bucks saw the error of their ways.

We have something like $60m in cap space next year.

    Idzik is doing fine.

I don't know if he sucks or not. I like some of his moves and I hate some of his moves as well. One thing is for sure, he doesn't deserve the love affair he gets on this site though -wow.

If it was the OP's intent to say he doesn't deserve the man-crush some of you are placing on him by saying "Idzik sucks" , then I guess I am on board with that.

Idzik's popularity hit high water mark with those FA signings along with Vick.......I for one, prefer known commodities in terms of talent. The draft selections are based on his value grades per rounds, which in some cases could be pure genius or big bust. I am gambling that we have enough talent to go to a Wildcard appearance so hope team doesn't disappoint.:)

What love affair? I don't want to turn this into a back and forth argument, but its not fair to judge a GM who is in his second year. Reserve judgment until at least year 3.

theres a difference between reserving judgment and blindly-praising every move like I've seen a lot on here.

It's not as prevalent as you are making it out it be. Sure, there are a handful of superhomers that will praise everything he does, but from what I have seen, there's also a loud and proud faction of people that hate every move he makes, and a far larger majority of people that are evenly positive about the philosophy but not buying in wholesale yet.

It's too easy to play the generalizations game on a football forum like this, I think you're smarter than that.

If anything else, Idzik has at least established his mantra of competition. Gone are the days of starting roles handed out to undeserving or underwhelming performers (Shonn Greene, Keller, Eric Smith).

The one real problem I had with this off-season was the failure to bring in an established CB.

If we traded every single one of our picks for those two picks from the buccaneers, we would still owe them based on the draft chart. We would actually be short a 3rd.

    Buccaneers give up:
    8th pick- 1400
    38th pick- 520

    1920 total

    Jets give up:
    17th pick- 950
    49th pick- 410
    80th pick- 190
    104th pick- 86
    115th pick- 64
    154th pick- 29.8
    195th pick- 13.4
233rd pick- Not even on chart, 224 is 2 points

    1745.2 total

Keep in mind you can't trade comp picks.

So basically blame Idzik for being stingy if you want but there was no way for us to get those two, and there isn't any evidence of Idzik being stingy here. He tried to get Lee or Sefarian-Jenkins but couldn't trade up. We do not know the details.

And you even mention it's a deep draft, so why would we give up all these picks? That's just arguing against yourself.

I'm not going to praise every move Idzik makes. He has made mistakes. But overall I am satisfied with the results of the draft.

Toon 88 you make it miserable to be a Jets fan. When they win or succeed I will think of your whiny attitude and ask myself was the victory worth it so a douche like yourself you could feel one minute of joy. Exhibit A why message boards sometimes suck. Evans and ASJ for 12 picks - you realize this was the Tannenbaum formula? It's easy to cherry pick two of the top offensive players in the draft and call it a day. Sorry but the Life as GM isn't so simple.

WW85 is a mature adult who is level-headed and is obviously the anti Toon 88.

Fair or not, Idzik's success is going to depend on Geno. Either if he succeeds or how he is replaced and with whom.

Hopefully the Jets won't be bad enough to have a chance at one of the top QBs but it's hard to select second round QBs as franchise QBs. At some point, we will need to address the QB position. Seattle had Flynn signed to that albatross before hitting the lottery with Wilson.

Do I need to make a list of all the late round franchise QBs in history? It will be very shocking
