NOW THAT WAS IMPRESSIVE. WOWOWWWW. Have to give to to Hank because he is playing even better then world class right now. This game is over by the end of the first period with ANY other goaltender in net..that was a killer..and MACS goal was a shot to the head. Dont know what to say. Have to admit that A.V. had the pulse of this team with the ability to walk away and play smart. They showed a scene after the second period when Subban started jawing with Boyle and A.V. came out on the ice to walk to dressing room and yelled over at Boyle pointing to the locker room and get away....Boyle just turned and skated away. Its rare in hockey when a team walks the tight rope of playing hard as nails and doing little wrong (except Pouliot penalty which could have been a game changer and was the only dumb thing this team did all night). They just play solid hockey...they were in perfect position in that 3rd period on almost every rush. Its just flat out great hockey...great hockey. This team...cant believe Im even thinking this right now..but this team is playing as good as any team can play right now on both sides of the ice. When a team like Montreal can come out like that in the first period....FINALLY get a real lucky one by Hank..and then we respond 17 seconds later? You have to wonder if this is just one of those teams that catches fire at the right time and just gels...just plays so well together no matter who is on the ice..it doesnt matter. Very very very very impressive.
and then you have the 4th line..no matter who is on that line, the constant is Boyle...who I predicted would be playing CYO hockey within a year. He is as good a defensive forward as there is in the league right now. He is one of the best penalty killers..if not the best penalty killer..in the NHL right now. He is poised...he does everything right on defense. It doesnt matter who they put on the 4th line but they too, create. When you can dump and extra 5 or 6 minutes a game by having them out there, the whole team looks totally fresh in the 3rd period. A.V. again has to be given credit for trusting them all season long..even when it made no sense to many of us.
The King is playing about as well as I have ever seen a goaltender play. Just, wow. Hank is the key. If he plays this well, there isn't anyone that this Ranger team can't beat. That man is possessed, let's hope he stays that way. LGR.
The King dominated the game...by the way all this talk of retribution was a joke nothing happened....Habs put all there eggs in one basket and tried everything to win last night, and they still lost, Thursday we will dictate the pace to them and smother them, what a luxury Hank is....play hard, deliver the pain! LGR!!!
quite a game. just need Pouliot and Kreider to limit the dopey penalties. I think there were like 3 offensive zone unneccessary penalties last night. Hank is indeed a beast. Nash and Marty had nice goals and the team's overall calmness after the opening blitz was extremly impressive. 2 down!
Three thoughts: 1) That pass from Kreider to Nash was sweeter than a slice of apple pie a-la-mode 2) If Martin St. Louis is not on this team, they would not be playing right now 3) I don't ever want anyone to question the quality of goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is ever again.
I think..in the stupid NHL world wrestling running of the league it depends if he is out..and that was a common theme in previous years. I know he left the game but did he come back. Im sure that's not 100 percent the way they look at it..but it has been mostly in the past. Was he injured to the point of being out.
the Ranger penalty kill hasn't given one up since game 1 against the pens. so has the powerplay given up more goals than the pk in total? haaa haa!! I'm not used to this stuff, winning two in the other teams building. fuck it, next game is a must win, they're all must wins god damnit!! it was awfully nice to stuff it right back in their face after that highly arrogant pre-game crap! yayyyyyy!!!! and, the boys won 10 games in the 2012 playoffs, time to eclipse that mark!
You...can...not...make....this...up.... P.K. Subban on Henrik Lundqvist: “He’s getting a little bit lucky” http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/p-k-subban-on-henrik-lundqvist-hes-getting-a-little-bit-lucky/ Henrik Lundqvist has had a pretty stellar playoff so far. He leads all goalies with a .934 save percentage, has won two Game 7s (allowing a combined two goals against) and has stopped 60 of the first 63 shots he’s faced in the Eastern Conference final. In Game 2 against Montreal, Lundqvist made 40 saves to counter the Canadiens having to turn to playoff rookie Dustin Tokarski in their net. Lundqvist, known for stepping up in big games, did it again by staring down an up-tempo Habs attack that was doing its best to balance the inexperience behind it in goal. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien did not hesitate to get to the point of why his team lost and now finds itself trailing the series 2-0 as it turns to New York. “Lundqvist was the difference in the game,” Therrien said afterwards. ”He was phenomenal, but I was pleased with the way we came out and the effort we showed.” The Habs did have a good game, but Lundqvist did what elite goalies do in the playoffs: he stole the win. A major storyline coming into this series was the goalie showdown between Price and Lundqvist – the same two who played at opposite ends for the gold medal game in Sochi. So when Price went down with a knee injury, forcing him out of the series, that edge swung hard in favor of the Rangers. Monday night, that played out as paper would suggest. Montreal star defenseman P.K. Subban had what will be a more controversial take on Game 2 than his coach did. “Sometimes the puck just doesn’t go in,” Subban said. “In the past, we’ve done those same things and the puck’s gone in. So I mean, is he playing well? Yeah, but we’re doing a good job. Some of it is luck, as well. He’s getting a little bit lucky, but that’s what you need in the playoffs.” Note: the Canadiens’ only goal in Game 2 was a pretty fortunate bounce.
Larry Brooks @NYP_Brooksie5h Kreider tells Post: "I thought [pre-game hubbub] was hilarious. It lit a fire under my ass that I don't think is going away any time soon."
