When a straight guy kisses his girlfriend after being drafted they don't spend a week talking about how he's straight. It would be really annoying if they did. No one cares about that - and some of us don't care about whether sam sucks dicks or not.
http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/stor...ey-network-acquires-rights-michael-sam-series Here comes the Oprah reality series!!! What a clown this dude is.
He's not an influential social figure. That's bogus. They are making WAY too big a deal out of it, it's embarrassing. St. Louis takes a flier and spends a 7th round pick on the defensive player of the year of the premier conference in football and you have ESPN making their GM out to be the next Branch Rickey, not even remotely close. That's pathetic. As for him opening the door for gay teens? Well I was never a gay teen so I guess I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing they have way more other more important things on their minds than if they have a future in the NFL. This isn't 1940s baseball where African Americans were straight up banned for the league no matter how good they were. Prior to Michael Sam did anyone REALLY think that if an openly gay player was great at football the league wouldn't let him in or wouldnt draft him? Hell no. Sam is just the first openly gay player that's actually good enough to be drafted. (Barely) To answer your question, of course I wouldn't have a problem if he was kissing a girl when he got drafted. I already acknowledged that that was my personal feelings and so be it if that is offensive. One thing I will say though is that it definitely wasn't a personal spontaneous kiss of the one you love when you get drafted, as they are trying to portray it. They were at his agents house where they planned that whole thing out. That's my problem with the gay community. Stop trying to be martyrs, no one is really even trying to bring them down, yet they are always battling like the world is prejudice against them.
No he's a genius. He's taking a documentary and probably making a fortune from it. It's a great business move for him. If the media is gonna run with this, then use that to make some money. Exactly what he's doing.
So basically he came out of the closet for business reasons. Sort of like Magic Johnson having financial aids and not real aids.
What else was there to get out of it? Sam's a clown...can't wait to see him fail now. Oprah reality show lol...get lost.
Ehm.... Here's interesting question.. Are there any rules explicitly prohibiting women from playing in the NFL? Because if there are, aren't we supposed to be pissed off about inequality and demand women to be allowed in? Like at Augusta? If there are no rules... I'm looking forward to extensive coverage of a UDFA female punter making a team. I bet it'll be longer and more pompous than Sam's coverage. Or better yet... Said punter should be a lesbian!!! That should cover all the basis.
Looks like the reality show got postponed. Maybe they realized that they should wait and see how his career goes first. I want the kid to be successful but his sexual orientation is of no interest to me. He's an inspiration to others, but in the same light if he makes a big spectacle out of it it will be the opposite of what the gay community really wants, IMO. The goal should be for folks to accept people regardless of orientation. Part of accepting something, is not making a big deal of it. I bet anything that there won't be a single Sam article this year that doesn't mention that he's gay, much like Collins in the NBA. I feel bad for the Rams. The media is still way behind the times. I stopping thinking homosexuals were a big deal like 20 years ago. They are part of the world we live in. No reason to treat them any different from straight people.
Wonderful! Hope she makes out with her gf on national tv. This should make enough talking points to last 10 years
Because reading about it aggrivates you less? It's like traveling to Mexico with someone only to hear them bitch the whole time about how much they hate being exposed to the Spanish language.
If you have a problem with me sharing my opinions on this matter feel free to put me on ignore. There is a conversation regarding this guy and part of that discussion is how the media covered it. Obviously me discussing that doesn't aggravate me or I wouldn't bother to participate in the conversation. To clarify for the liberal impaired, if the sports media coverage about his gayness continues much beyond the draft I will begin to despise this guy just like I did tebow. Your analogy is retarded.
You're contradicting yourself. And you're apparently a masochist. Nothing is more retarded than someone who purposely exposes himself to that which annoys him. Does the "little child touching the hot oven repeatedly without learning that hot oven=pain" analogy suffice? It's difficult to believe that ESPN saying Sam is gay aggravates you any less than TGG saying Sam is gay. I do find it reasonable though to distinguish mainstream exposure vs selective exposure so that's fair. Regardless I just wanna help
Look, I get that you're really mad that I have an opinion that differs from yours but you really sound ridiculous here. That's probably because you are so mad that you can't even understand what is being said. This thread does not annoy me. Discussing what's already happened does not annoy me. What will annoy me is if I'm watching the NFL preseason, regular season and playoffs and I continue to hear about how gay this guy is when it has nothing to do with the sport. Is that really so difficult to digest?
