You don't get it. It's stupid, and the HC shouldn't be making idiotic statements like that. It's also BS, because he coaches like a freaking pussy. The team doesn't play tough and Rex doesn't coach tough. When things get tough, he goes in a shell and gets conservative. He's an effing moron.

Lol @ visibly asshurt RR detractors. You were probably bitching about Mangini when he was saying all the generic shit over and over too.

so rex hyping up his players can get another team to play at a level higher than the would have if rex hadn't said anything?
    but..........

it doesn't work on his own players.
    weird

Grow up with your stupid "asshurt" comments. They're about as stupid as one can get. You don't deserve to get to post here.

Bullshit. How could that statement possibly elevate another team's play? Complete absolute utter nonsense. Every team has people that say similar things. As if that's going to magically turn all our opponents into offensive juggernauts that complete 75% and score 5 TDs. Any team that doesn't play their hardest regardless of what other teams say is a fraud and doesn't belong in the NFL.

Cry me a river. They said the same BS about last season with that really difficult 5 game stretch and we went 3-2 during the time.

No offense, but if Tom Brady isn't worried about facing the Jets D (the same D that almost beat him twice last year), and doesn't game plan accordingly he's a moron.

I laughed, then I cried, then I laughed again. Life must be difficult for you as a fan. I recommend something less stressful like badminton. Is it really necessary to badger our coach like that? Some people just buy into all the hype and nonsense.

OMG! REX IS SO STOOOOPID! HE SAID POSITIVE THINGS! IT'S GONNA MAKE ALL OTHER TEAMS BEAT US!! LMFAOUFSC!

Christ! What team are you watching? LMAO tell us how you REALLY feel. What a joke of a post. Rooting for Rex to get fired is essentially rooting for Jets to lose. And if you think Rex coaches like a pussy and nobody plans for hours upon hours to face the Jets D or other good Ds around the league, why aren't you putting out your resume to become an NFL head coach. I mean it's so easy, right? Rex is such a moron it should be simple for a genius like you to swoop in and take his jerb right?

Visibly ass hurt was the perfect description! How can you insult our coach like an angry ranting teenager and then immediate after tell somebody to grow up! ROFLcopter!

What in his comment was so out of this world though? Rex has always been a confident guy. What did he say after we lost to the Pats 45-3 in 2010? He said "we'll play em again right now"..and people laughed. The same way they laugh now. Which is much more idiotic then anything Rex has said recently.

And if you believe that bulletin board material is taken seriously in today's NFL then I dont know what else to say. Maybe if Rex came out and said Tom Brady isnt the same QB he was 5 years ago then it could give him a little extra motivation to kick the Jets ass next season. But that is farrrrr from the case with what he's saying here.

Are the Raiders now going to be extra fired up Week 1 because of Rex's comments? Doubtful.

Just the latest case of the media trying to make a story out of nothing.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. You don't know what goes on inside the minds of NFL football players. Neither do I, but since people see things differently (just as we do on this issue), chances are that there are football players who use stuff like this to get fired up. In fact, I know I've read quotes before from players of other teams who said that Rex's comments were posted on their bulletin board and it gave them extra incentive and motivation to want to beat the Jets. When a team is tired and having a tough go of it, some players give up, others never really cared in the first place and are just drawing a paycheck, while others bust their butts. Give them some extra motivation, and even the most unmotivated players can get fired up. Often times who wins an NFL game comes down to who wants it most and who is willing to dig a little deeper and keep fighting. Remembering words like Rex's can do that for players and teams.

Why even risk it? If there's nothing wrong with it, it's funny that other HCs don't do this, and only a few players do it, and they are generally made to shut up by their HCs. If it's so innocuous, why don't other HCs do it? It's because they're smarter and have more class than Rex. It's because they KNOW that it will bite them in the ass. Rex is the only buffoon who can't or won't see it.

It's funny..we usually only hear that type of talk from the winner of a game. Its never "I really wish we beat these guys because of what their coach said about HIS OWN team"..Wonder when we'll hear a player say that he wishes the team they just lost to would talk more in the media because otherwise they cant get fired up to play them. Or how about a player from the losing team saying the reason the other team won was because their coach motivated them?

And we dont know or pay attention to what other coaches say in their press conferences/interviews. All we as Jets fans can go by is Coughlin and Belicheck..and they are as dry as they come when it comes to the media. But because one has a Hall of Famer at QB and the other has the best postseason QB of all time they arent questioned about anything. If the coach of the Chargers said what Rex says it would be buried on ESPN.com and the country would forget about it 20 mins after they read it. But because its Rex its a bigger story then it needs to be.

Maybe Rex knows that him saying this type of stuff gives his team some extra motivation. How many coaches in the league could've won 8 games with the roster we had last year? Not many. How many coaches could've built a defense so good within his first 2 years of getting to a new organization to where they got to title games with some of the worst QB play in the league?

End thread. Shut the fuck up. Jesus christ. 2,000 plus posts since December? Get laid and STF

It's simple: you hate Rex. So root against the Jets this year so Woody and Idzik can hire another coach you'll wind up hating.

People have the right to defend Rex and root for Rex, because they're actually, you know, Jets fans..and they can do so without you blowing up at them.

A lot of fans understand Rex might not be the guy beyond 2014-15.

Honestly, who gives a shit? If it raises the player's confidence and motivates them, than spew whatever the heck you want. Do people honestly think other NFL coaches don't speak about their players this way? It's just that Rex has the balls to do it.

Not looking forward to playing a team is more about perception than reality.

It's like when the new schedule came out and everyone writes down expected wins and losses.

There are defenses out there that can't stop a nose bleed, and offensive coordinators salivate at the chance to rack up fantasy league numbers against them. The Jets aren't one of those defenses.

Once a blowhard, always a blowhard. Nothing he says shocks me but at least let them win a few games before going full bravado, Rex. This is his MO though.

Let's reset this, because guys are obviously missing the point and taking this thread into directions that I feel have nothing to do with it.

“I’m going to be honest with you,” Ryan said, via NJ.com. “I’m not so sure there would be too many people that want to play us. And that’s the truth.”

Now for all the Rex Ryan supporters, name a team in the NFL that you feel may not want to play the Jets.
