Came home from work and started to putter around the front yard. I happened to look to my left and Surprise! He was sleeping right in front of my house on the grass. We kinda looked at each other and he realized I wasn't a threat. He was so young, he could barely stand up without wobbling. He looked hungry too but what do you feed a baby deer? I kinda looked at him and asked "What am I supposed to do with you".. He gave me a look that kinda said: " You got something to eat? I'm hungry.." I guess his mom either abandoned him or worse, bought the farm somewhere along the way. He wasn't scared of me at all and I was wondering if I was being adopted by a baby deer... Anyways, he gave the cutest little whelp and galloped off to the neighbor's yard which is a bit overgrown and provided good cover. I hope the little fellah finds his mom or safe haven somewhere other than my subdivision. I have enough problems with deer munching my landscaping as it is. God is indeed great for giving me such a nice surprise on an otherwise ordinary day ! I hope all of you experience something like this in your everyday lives at some point. It brings home the value of life in all of its forms..
I am happy that baby deers visit you Sensei. Just last month we had a black bear walking around at my and my neighbors' backyards.
My father lives north of San Antonio and has a herd of about 40 or 50 deer that runs through his back yard twice a day. They have eaten almost every plant outside of his house a number of times - he had to go find deer resistant bushes, and they still take a chunk out here and there. They're like roaches out here.
cman, listen and trust that i am telling you the truth. that fawn is not abandoned, the mother is close by and do not need any assistance. fawns are born scentless, this helps them hide from predators while they are still not strong enough to run away. during the first weeks after birth the mother keeps her distance from the fawn only being near for feedings. this keeps the doe from leaving her scent on the fawn and thus making for a easier target for coyotes,bears,foxes and bobcats. enjoy watching him.but don't get involved. nature is working it out.
Tanks for the 411. Didn't know but I had a feeling Mom was nearby. The Doe was pretty chill too. Not panicky at all so I guess that's why Mom didn't show herself.

Man you guys are lucky... all I find in my yard are spiders and other creepy shit. My old house I would get rabbits, lizards, quail and coyotes but I moved a bit away from the mountains so I just get the crawly things now.
I woke up to find a little pussy in my bed this morning, it looked so hungry that I decided to feed it everything I had. Its now a very happy pussy. God is indeed great
