I mean..the bolded part..that is the only point here. There should have been NO exceptions. How can anyone justify 7 days off if a team wins in 5?
It's always supposed to be that way in terms of what you were saying about a long time off if the series ended early. Every other day is normally supposed to be a day off. So that's why the Penguins would've had 7 days off had they won Game 5. All the scheduling has fit in with how they've always done it with the exception of Games 2 and 3. There was some conflict or something that didn't allow them to play on Tuesday, May 6. It should've been Game 1 Friday, Game 2 Sunday, Game 3 Tuesday. Instead Game 3 was Monday. I'm pretty sure they wanted to do it as usual but something interfered. I don't think the NHL ever said what the reason was (there was vague speculation about Billy Joel and the Liberty, but #&*^$&@ Billy Joel and #&#^@& the Liberty, this is MSG's main draw, the Rangers). http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/05/penguins-rangers-back-to-back-nhl-preview
I hear you...I just cant forget how brutal that was playing games 6 and games 7 back to back with the flyers and this rush to start the Penguins series. In the NBA , they always have had these huge days off because they would start a next series before the ending of other teams in the same conference. I guess my only point is that the brutal ending of the Flyer series and start of the Pen series could have been a killer. It wasn't. There is no excuse to have any team play back to back games in the playoffs. Hard to justify. As far as the start of this series? Nobody can tell me that putting the Rangers on Friday night...with people out at bars...restaurants...games all tuned to the Ranger games..that that time doesn't kill a Saturday 1pm start. They cant justify the other series not being over..I mean who cares..the other series starts on Sunday and its not a killer. Rangers at 1pm has no emotion to it..nothing. Maybe it helps the Rangers...who knows...but I will never understand the NHLS thinking behind these early afternoon games.
Wow Bettman is a shitbag. But this is amazing, got to love the heart of this team. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nhl/sto...rangers-attend-funeral-martin-st-louis-mother GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The New York Rangers will attend the funeral of veteran forward Martin St. Louis' mother on Sunday in Montreal as an entire team, coach Alain Vigneault revealed Thursday afternoon. St. Louis and his family had originally planned to hold the funeral on Saturday, but have since moved the service to Sunday so as not to conflict with the Rangers' Eastern Conference finals-opening game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday afternoon. The 25 Greatest Rangers From Frank Boucher to Henrik Lundqvist, Madison Square Garden has hosted some memorable Blueshirts. Who's the best of the best? Top 25 Rank 'Em Vigneault indicated that once the schedule for the series was released, they spoke with the league in an attempt to get that changed but that St. Louis' family ultimately rearranged their plans instead. "We were able to, yesterday, work with the NHL for schedule. Marty's [mother's] funeral was supposed to be Saturday. [They] couldn't move the time of the game, so Marty being the way he is, was able to move the funeral to Sunday," Vigneualt said. "So Sunday, as a team we'l be able to attend his mother's funeral." France St. Louis died last Thursday after suffering a heart attack. Martin St. Louis rejoined the team just one day after her death to play in Game 5 as the Rangers avoided elimination against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers, inspired by his return, rattled off two more wins to beat the Penguins in Game 7, erasing a 3-games-to-1 deficit for the first time in franchise history.
NY Rangers Zone@NYRangersZone16h It's weird - but very good - to see members of the Rangers with such full beards in the postseason. Keep winning, keep growing...
Coming off the high from our Game 7 victory, combined with the Adrenaline rush of battling for tickets on Ticketmaster, I made a little bit of a mistake and bought tickets that i really had no business spending money on. I bought single tickets for MSG, Home Games 2 & 3, (series Game 4 & 6). The ticket for Home Game 2 (series game 4) is Row 14 of Section 107 The ticket for Home Game 3 (series Game 6) is Row 1 of section 106. What do you guys think are the odds of me re-selling? Is anyone interested in buying?
The $780 one you have a chance at getting your money back because people will pay to get into Delta and it's Game 6, but that single in game 2 gets you nothing so the only thing going for you is it's going to be a friday or saturday game but you're going to lose half that value net of fees
I must say I'm feeling pretty decent about tomorrow a.m. gentlemen. well, 10 a.m. for me , you guys are at 1. it's a super slacker special of the week for 'ol Thomas here!!
gives you a small idea of how much dolan is raking in, especially in a capped league, and for games where you don't have to pay your players or coaches
I'd imagine they're trying to get the early audience for Rangers-Habs because the Preakness will be on right after. NBC is trying to own the day essentially.
Nah, he'll just double down on a cup ticket. So what do you think the odds are he bought the tickets with intentions of going only to have all hell break loose when he told the wife/gf. He might have had a shot of making it happen by going with 2 seats next level up.
I have done some business with the Derby folks and let me tell you, frankly no one really gives a rats ass about Horse Racing and the Preakness these days
