Really,? How? There are 14 teams in the SEC and it is by far the deepest conference but they don't play everybody in it. The last two years A&M schedule has included Rice, Sam Houston (x2), SMU (x2), UTEP, South Carolina St. They play Bama and LSU. Auburn sucked his freshman year you add them and they have 3 games. It would be different if they got rid of schools like Kentucky, Miss St, ect and their schedule was Georgia, UF, LSU, Bama, ect but it's not
Johnny was unreal and deserves all the praise he gets but to say he played in a different league is just not accurate. The SEC is smart there's a reason their teams play 2 FCS schools every November and the top 3 or 4 are all 9-10 win teams come December.
What the fuck does any of this matter? The question is will Manziels game translate better in the pros or not. Based entirely on their college careers the NFL has judged that Johnny footballs game translates better. We already have an idea how Geno's game translate we saw it last season. We saw a QB have one of the worst rookie seasons in the modern NFL going several games without completing double digit passes. Manziel we do not yet kno but based on draft status the nFL believes he has a better chance to be better than Geno in the NFL. Geno has not proven to better than Sanchez and according to you he is the worst QB n NFL history what does that say about Geno?
Back to the Question where would have Geno gone in this years draft? Having the benefit of hindsight of how well Geno would perform in the NFL Geno would have slipped into the third maybe fourth round.
MARK SANCHEZ STATS Passing Rushing Statistics Att Comp Pct Yds TD Int Rating Att Yds Avg TD 2008: 366 - 241 - 65.8 - 3,207 - 34 - 10 - 164.6
Well, you keep hating on him every chance you get and we'll see at the end of the season how he has developed.
I said I don't consider rushing stats for QB's because the QB's primary job is throwing the ball/running the offense. It doesn't mean I'm saying to discount it at all.
And I'm saying that the overall talent in the conference is irrelevant when it comes to the individual QB. You bring up the SEC as if that proves that Manziel is better than Geno. By your logic Manziel>>RGIII
The question actually was if Geno was in this draft where would he have been taken. Based on Geno as a prospect he was much better than Manziel and Bortles. But that doesn't mean he would've been taken before them, considering two better QB's Bridgewater and Carr were taken after the aforementioned two QB's. Geno was up and down and still managed to be the 13th rookie QB in NFL history to throw for 3,000+ yards. The book hasn't been completed yet on Geno if he continues the shitty play then I am more than willing to concede that I was wrong about him. But he's shown me enough to warrant giving him a shot in year 2. Draft position means jackshit. By your logic Ryan Leaf>>Tom Brady.
Still made up BS. He was NEVER a better prospect than either of those 2 guys. It's clear YOU liked him better than those two, but he was clearly not a better prospect. The NFL agrees. _
So when we're discussing "production" at the college level--we go by YOUR rules or what everyone else uses when discussing production. _
In a much worse QB class he was taken in the second round. Why would that have changed any? What we saw of Geno last season his stock would have went down. Draft position is what the NFL thinks your readiness to play o not. Yes, the NFL thought Ryan Leaf was better than Brady coming out of college. Why are you so defensive of draft class if it means Jack shit. Geno sucked last season he will have a chance to prove otherwise this season. My prediction is that Vick ends up starting I hope I am wrong.
1985 likes Geno which is fine. But his reasons for thinking he was a better prospect because HE likes him better is circularly illogical. No one thought he was a better prospect other than Geno fans. He can continue to repeat it but it still won't be true. _
There is very little objectivity here, and a lot of bias. Honestly, I have no clue where Geno would have gone. I'll admit I'm a fan of the kid, but I'm going to keep it as objective as possible. I think he would be slightly behind Teddy/Bortles/Manziel. They all went in the first round. Geno and Carr would go in the second round. Who knows, maybe the Jets would have taken him with the 49th pick. Either way, I don't understand the need to compare Geno to these guys. I actually think he is in a better position than Teddy/Manziel/Carr. Bortles: Good shape, Jacksonville got him a slew of receivers to throw to. Manziel: Good line, but lost his best receiver for the season. Bridgewater: Decent shape, but with less than stellar arm strength, playing 11 games in windy weather wont be easy. Next year Minnesota is moving inside, so that should help Edit: Whoops Carrs on Oakland, not Houston lol
Not my rules. Whenever I've discussed QB's I never brought up rushing stats. Just like I never mention tackles by a WR, or TD's thrown by a runningback. But I did say that Manziel had him beat in rushing yards because that's a bigger part of his game than Geno's.
In a much better QB class Manziel and Bortles were drafted higher than Aaron Rodgers. What in the motherfuck is your point? We are talking about if Geno was a prospect entering the 2014 NFL draft. Why do you bring up his rookie season? Draft position means nothing, the best QB in the 2014 draft went 32nd overall.
I doubt Manziel even comes close to duplicating that in the NFL. Don't get me wrong, ignoring the rushing TDs is silly, but people do tend to look at QBs more for their passing, especially in this day and age in the NFL. I can't remember the last good rushing QB that won a superbowl because of his rushing ability.
