If he's not on board with a Texans rebuild he's probably not on board with the Jets trying to figure out who their starting QB is THIS year, let alone moving forward. I would love Andre here... but I think there is far more of a chance he ends up in New England. I would honestly say New England has to be considered favorites.
Good luck leaving the Texans AJ - you are counting 15 mil vs the cap. I like AJ would love him to be a Jet but not at that price.
He'd more than likely redo his deal to go elsewhere. That being said, he probably wants to go to a contender like New England. That being said, fuck New England.
the mantra of Jets insecurity -- it's always the Pats who will get the player. and as of today the Jets don't have an uncertain QB situation. it is Geno's job. just because many believe Vick can outperform him in camp and win the job doesn't change whose job it is today. by Vick's own words he knew he was signing up to be the backup.
The fact that we are going into training camp with one QB and could potentially come out with another QB at the helm means we have an uncertain QB situation. And I meant more that the QB play has been shaky and until games are played, we (or Andre) have no idea if it will be any more stable. Again, I would love Andre Johnson in green and white more than anything... I just can't see him wanting to be here.
Doubt it. Idzik would have to give a substantial amount for this guy and that's dependent on him wanting to play for a rebuilding team. Unless we take a SIGNIFICANT step forward this year, we are in the same boat as Houston. Great running back/s, pass catching TE, great defense, no answer at QB
Take a look at the 3 remaining years left on his contract: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/andre-johnson/ Dude's 32.
This is Jets news? No, I don't want a 32 year old WR who's lost a step and will cost $10 mill. Besides, he wouldn't want to play for us anyway given our lack of stability at QB.
He did only have 106 receptions last year. As for the contract ... I don't see him landing on another team unless the Texans agree to release him. He'd probably choose a SB favorite given the chance though. Yea - so how is this Jets news?
every team goes into camp with one QB and could potentially come out with another starting. I don't believe the QB position is as unstable as some people want to make it out to be. and considering the talent that would be around him if he were to join the Jets, I think Andre Johnson could see the positives of playing in this offense whether it is Geno or Vick throwing to him.
I think it's fair to say the Jets QB competition is a little closer than 75% of the league's "QB competitions" heading into camp...
The Browns are probably a much more realistic option if he is actually on the trade block. They stacked themselves with draft picks and still have a lot of cap room.
