WW85, No problem with it taking a little while to respond, and no need to apologize. I know you're busy and have a life outside this forum. lol Thanks. I feel humbled by your comments, but really appreciate them and take that as high praise coming from you. I understand your reluctance with Ford. I wouldn't draft him at #18, either, but if they decided to trade down towards the end of the first round to the mid or lower 20s, then I think he would be a great pick. I believe that he's only 21, maybe younger as I can't remember if he's a Sr. or underclassman, and don't have time to look it up at the moment. You may be right that it may take a couple of years before Ford is ready to see the field full time, but even so, I think as a situational pass rusher and STer he could still make a very big impact during that time. Everything I've read and heard about him, and even his own comments seem to suggest that he has great character, a desire to be the best, and a great work ethic. So it may not take as long as you think. Even if it did, many 3-4 OLB prospects take a year or two to develop. I don't think that's a reason not to take them, especially when you know the chances are that he will develop into a stud pass rusher. Especially with Pace and Barnes here to help mentor him, I think Ford could develop into one of the best pass rushers in the game. I'd absolutely love to add him to the Jets. If you still wouldn't him in the mid-to-low 20s, that's fine. You're right that it's not often that we disagree, but ok when we do. I agree that in terms of size, speed, quickness that Moss and Cooks are similar. Where they differ imo is in their toughness. IMO Moss always shyed away from contact and often had alligator arms when he had to go over the middle. I don't see Cooks as having any problems with going over the middle. We are in total agreement about this draft and hoping that we get the right players. It will be a very exciting ride if we do, but if not, then I fear we're in for another long, frustrating stretch of mediocrity, of being just good enough to give some hope, but never getting over the hump and becoming a real powerhouse.
I think Boyd was an easy one, Rex hinted all along he liked Boyd. I got McDougle right, but later on in rd 6. McDougle was a reach, but he will be a good player. Never say never when it comes to the draft a lot of good players were not drafted. I don't think anyone here would have thought Skov would go undrafted. Teams must have looked at his measurables, not his smarts, heart and Team player.
Ya mcDougal was a surprise in the 3rd but I think with the ebs and flow of the draft he was one of the better corners left with our 3rd... So many DBs were off the board at that point... Boyd is a great boom or bust pick and Rex does luv the guy.. As for Skov I always felt he didn't have NFL size, speed and athleticism.. Just good between the ears.
