We need depth, that has always been an issue with this team. Bring in a ton of players and let them duke it out.

There really was no point in trading up after the second round anyway

I wish the NFL had a developmental roster for younger guys where they could practice with the team and work with the coaches but not count towards the 53 man roster.

I agree. Would have liked to trade up to take Muray or McCarron.

What I would like to know is what he was offering to move up? Was it like his contract skills?

The ones that landed us the top WR, RB and QB available in free agency? I would assume probably something similar, but it takes two teams to make a trade.

I'm not sold on Decker yet.

With so many picks it is hard to believe that would could not have helped ourselves by moving either up or down in the draft at least once.

Want to take McDougle, trade down?

Want baby Gronk or Lee, why not trade away the third rounder to move up if the best you can do is McDougle?

Anyone want to guess how I feel about the McDougle pick?

That's all fine, but they were all hands down the best players at their position available in free agency. Idzik got all three of them. His negotiating methods literally cannot be criticized.

You're buying a McDougle jersey tomorrow?

Lets all remember that when it comes to trading up it takes two to tango. its not all about Idzik wanting to trade up and its not even about what he offers in return sometimes.

he admitted trying to trade up, probably for Lee, but the Bucs wanted to get ASJ and thought the Jets were trading up for him so they didn't budge.

trading up is absoulelty easier said than done, there needs to be mutual desire and sometimes that plain isn't there, and so he picked all twelve.

I've said this about 4 times across 4 different threads, including this one. Good luck getting some people here to understand this.

And you can pick who would have made it, stayed injury free, etc out of the lower number of picks you would have made?

There were 30 trades in this draft, none involving the Jets.

Don't ya think there was at least one good trade offer out there for one of our picks?

I don't really believe the Jets made much in the way of overtures to other teams during the draft. Idzik is quoted as saying the Jets tried to trade up in the 2nd round but as you point out there were lots of trades made and if the Jets had really wanted to make a trade it wouldn't have been hard to do so.

I mean I'm sure they weighed their options and what was demanded in a trade, but personally I'd rather have Amaro and more competition at WR than jumping up half a round for Lee and relying on hitting on a higher percentage of our picks. Just my preference though.

Are the gems in the late round somehow more valuable than those in the 2nd and 3rd?

No, obviously to be a successful team you want to hit on your 1st and 2nd round picks, but as far as the later rounds go you can't hit the lottery if you don't have more tickets. We'll see in time how Pryor and Amaro do but they look like very solid picks right now and McDougle is a sleeper, I like him a lot if we put him in the right situations(zone, off man).

If nothing else there's no chance that Marqise Lee starts for the Jets at two positions in two years and Amaro and McDougle might pull off that feat.
