As a Wisconsinite, I can attest to this.

Or Jeff Janis. One of these WRs anyway.

I also like Chandler Jones from S.J. State. He will likely be a backup receiver, but has potential to be a good gunner. He is likely a 6th or 7th round pick or undrafted free agent, but with th McDougle pick, you never know. The Jets or someone else might take him early today.

    G David Yankey
WR Robert Herron or WR Jared Abbrederis or WR Bruce Ellington
    OLB Jordan Tripp

Lets get this done based Idzik in round 4 plz.

EDIT: Oooh Christian Jones and Shayne Skov might be Jet targets. We got so many options, its awesome.

    Eric Decker
    Jace Amaro
    Jeremy Kerley
    David Nelson
    Stephen Hill
    Jacoby Ford
    Greg Salas

There isn't a lot of room left at the inn for a rookie WR to come in and make a big impression. You'd need to be a pretty good prospect to get much of a look-see in the group above.

Amaro is going to be used alongside Jeff Cumberland more often than not. He's going to be effectively a slot receiver and h-back type player. Typically that cuts heavily into the secondary receivers snaps.

If there was a 6'+ guy with real speed to stretch the field he might get some time in the offense but I don't see that guy out there right now. It's all smurfs and guys who project to double up on skills the Jets already have at receiver. Abbrederis as an example is just like Greg Salas. Do we really need to double up on that to see which of those guys is better?

Last 2 guys are expendable. Hill needs to have a great training camp to prove his worth too and I don't think David Nelson is a slam dunk lock. First 3 guys are though...

Would not shock me if we took another blocking oriented TE like an Arthur Lynch or Marcel Jensen late in the draft.

I think a TE adds more to the roster right now than a WR. Again, that's based on who is available. Amaro played something like 85% of his snaps last year split out or in the slot. I doubt the Jets are looking to have him inline on most plays. It wouldn't be best usage of his proven abilities.

At this point anyone who can catch a ball is welcome.

Might play a lot of 2 TE sets with Cumberland and Amaro I think and not many teams are equipped to combat that, which is good for us.

And it wouldn't hurt to have another TE on the depth chart who can play the Cumberland role inline. Cumberland might well be able to play something approximating the Amaro role in the slot or split out once that's established. Would give the Jets better options over the course of the season.

TE's have a tendency to produce earlier than other positions. If you're looking for immediate impact on offense adding a TE can give you that if you're lucky.

but do you spend a 4th round pick on someone who isnt a great bet to make the roster out of training camp? i feel like thats what you use 7th rounder or take undrafted guys for... to challenge for that bottom of the roster.

Since we didn't get Cooks, Ellington would be a nice addition. Terrific returner and an explosive player.

All 3 of our 4th rounders need to be contributors in some fashion, even if its on special teams.

You flat out do not cut a 4th round pick in his rookie season. Oakland did it on Tyler Wilson and rightfully caught flack.

We need a receiver that can command a double team. Kerley and Decker don't do that. I find it hard to say we should discount Abbrederis just because we have Salas on the roster. Instead of trying to find certain molds of receivers (tall) or short speedy guy and comparing it to what we have, we just need to find anyone who is a diamond in the rough at this point and get Geno help. If Idzik mantra is competition, having ford salas or hill isn't going to prevent him from grabbing a talented receiver today

I don't think you will find a receiver like that at this point. A lot of those guys are undersized and aren't physical receivers. Maybe a Martavis Bryant, if he taps into this potential, even so he's like a Stephen Hill.

If we spread the field out, we won't need a receiver that can command a double team anyway. I think we should spend a 4th on a vet.

I'd love Thomas, he reminds me a lot of Leon. Not sure where he fits with the current RBs, though. I'll just be happy if he stays out of the AFCE, he'd be deadly with the Pats.

Why did they pass on Martavis Bryant though?!?!?! Bryant was the top receiver avail, and had nice size too. Saunders is a tiny punt returner, not really a WR.
