Unbelievable. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/38776/jets-explored-trade-up-for-marqise-lee Instead of messing around with Tampa and trying to play hard-ball negotiator (no doubt) with the clock running down, Idzik should have worked out a deal with the Texans @ #33, who were supposedly looking to trade down. All the extra picks are worthless if you can't find a way to convert them into good players.
Martavis Bryant is worth the risk in the 4th but you have to wonder why a guy that big lasts until the 4th. Saginaw's Jeff Janis has some of the best measurables/production of all of the draft-eligble WRs. We don't need to waste a pick on QB. We can do that next year. Same with RB. You can sign UDFA's and have the same chance at hitting on the pick.
Amaro is like a big-bodied WR, and a weapon on offense. He's as valuable in today's NFL than a WR2, and we didn't trade away any picks to do it. Now we can grab best available WR in 4th and still have Amaro.
Exactly. I personally want Jared Abberderis. I know he has the concussion issue, but if it wasn't for that, he'd have gone higher. Take a chance on him. He's the best route runner in this class.
Yeah I just feel Campanaro is better value later and fits into our type of Jet. Similar production to Abderris.
Like I said, the only issue with Abberderis is the concussion issue. Good player, but after what happened with Ryan Swoop last year, I wonder where he'll go.
Great point and I'm not sure it's worth the risk tbh. I feared the Jets would take Bryant in 2nd or 3rd and I didn't like him over Matthews, Adams and Moncrief, but in the 4th you can afford to roll the dice on a near 6-foot-4 WR.
i fully expect Jared Abbrederis to be chosen by the jets during the 4th round, likely with their first pick. as JI has shown injury is of no concern next to upside, the risks with concussions are not to be taken lightly but the risks with wasting a pick are nil this time out given the pure MASS number of picks tomorrow. barring a trade up I think he'll be a Jet. And I honestly think Sam and boyd will be too.
Martavis Bryant, Jared Abbrederis and Bruce Ellington are my 3 favorite receivers left. Would be fine with any.
Same here. The encouraging sign is assuming rumor about front office trying to trade up is true it shows that a) they want to get a receiver out of draft and b) they saw enough late value to wait. I think either of the second two would be great but Bryant is just too raw with high drop levels to take this early IMO. If we don't take a receiver , I absolutely do not want a back to back cornerback ... Only would be fine with a wr, guard/tackle in tony Richardson or David yankey or best pass rusher on the board. I hope to never see Clyde Gates or some of the receivers on our team that aren't even practice squad material
The Walter Football Mock draft had Dex McDougle being picked by the Jets! However it was the 7th round. Bruce Ellington should be our target today.
Won't be Ellington, Idzik doesn't seem to like smurfs, probably Bryant at 6'4" if they even take one of them at all.
Anyone think we trade one or two of our picks for a veteran again? Maybe a Denairus Moore. Something I would love but won't happen is a trade with SF for Michael Crabtree. His contract year is coming up, they could consider getting something for him if they don't wanna pay him. I'd give either 2 4's or a 4,5,6 for him. But then again, I'm living in a dreamworld and this won't happen.
