Have to say I don't really get this one from a value perspective. Seems like he easily would have been available later maybe even in the 6th round. Getting a CB is great but I don't think he was the best CB available at that spot let alone the BPA in general. First two picks were good but this one seems like a pointless reach.
Rex Ryan picks defense in the high rounds. Period. That is why we haven't had a winning season the last 3 years. The other teams realize there is an offensive side to the draft.
From 2012: They gave Hill a first-round grade, thinking he has the ability to start right away. "He has a ton of potential," general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...-draft-new-york-jets-trade-draft-stephen-hill
Light years ahead? You think so? Hell no. We got names true. But Decker has Geno Vick instead of Peyton Manning. CJ isn't the CJ of years gone by and Jacoby Ford? Cmon now. Next you'll be singing the praises of Clyde Gates.
Do people actually think this guy is going to make any difference? I've heard his name mentioned as an upgrade.
The guy might be able to play, but this was a huge reach. I was much higher on other CBs, and pretty sure we could have waited to draft this guy. This was a Rex pick, so lets see what happens with it.
Yeah. But after 3 games last year before he got hurt people were projecting him 2nd or 3rd round. I understand reaching sucks but if they were super high on him compared to the rest of their board then I trust them. Idzik isn't going to pick all pro-bowlers every year but he has done a pretty good job so far (2013) in my opinion.
and he turns out to be a steaming pile of shit in a uniform. Again, this team doesn't know a f'n thing about offense. That's why if we're gonna be the 2000 Ravens, we might as well go all in on defense like we're doing so far.
You probably think McDougle or whatever his name is was great value in the 3rd round--the jets could have had him with one of their 4 sixth round picks. Dumb dips.
I'm just saying...Stephen Hill must have been a Tony Sporano pick and Tannenbaum probably heard his OC and had the urge to take a wildcat WR specialist with soap hands
Yes I do think it was a solid pick. Was it a reach? Absolutely. But if he is healthy, the kid can ball. And again, Rex Ryan doesn't make the picks. He may influence them, but that job belongs to the GM. Don't make a comment claiming Rex makes the picks because that is false and you have no evidence to support that.
I guess we can expect Rex to kick at the opening of every game next year. Might as well lead with your strength and hide your weakness.
Welcome to the party Benny. A few guys beat you to it though. Doesn't change anything offensively for the Jets. Might as well go back to ground and pound and be done.
