I thought Ray Lewis was god-awful last night. Almost made me feel sorry for him.

I don't know what's with the Rich Eisen love. That snarky prick is a Jet-bashing scumbag. Just this morning his take on the Giants picking OBJ was to say that "poor Jet fans (everywhere) were jealous" as if it was across-the-board and not just the whining darksiders…..that the Giants pick should have a 'Jets-as-losers' component to it. And I've heard him on several other occassions taking the opportunity to mock the 'sad sack' Jets -- screw him and his receeding hairline.[/quote]

Snarky. That's actually perfect. Not sure how he became such a big deal.

You are aware he is a huge Jets fan right?

I should have truncated Joes post. I've never gotten the sense one way or the other how he feels about the Jets.

    I meant the "snarky" description.

Quite frankly I've never understood folks claiming so and so is a huge Jet hater. Unless it's a chowd reporter, I can't outwardly tell and most national guys like to take pot shots at the Jets because usually we deserve it. I don't think any of them are Jet "haters".

I don't know I watched a bunch of both broadcasts and actually thought ESPNs coverage was significantly better last night than NFLN. Kiper has tempered his ego, and Gruden says almost as many interesting things as Mayock.

Finally the ESPN people stopped spoiling picks before it happened. They also used delayed footage of the players right when it was time to pick so they didnt show the phone calls

Taking pot shots at the Jets gets the easy laughs these days and he is in the business of being funny.

Yes, I agree that Kiper and Gruden were very good, but Lewis seemed almost brain dead with his responses. He brought nothing to the table.

I normally really like Rich Eisen, he is a tad snarky at times and holy christ I wanted him to shut up about Manziel. I like his podcast a lot, I think it's pretty funny and he has a lot of great guests who talk about football but also about great movies and TV shows which I happen to have a lot of interest in. On TV he is very much an NFL company man, but he is much cooler in his podcast. He was decent and pretty funny on TNF as well.

EDIT: And oh yeah, he really doesn't take all that many pot shots at the Jets. I think his early life fan hood of the Jets probably washed away some of his enthusiasm for the team but he's not really a hater.

    So are JetsFan and Geno007 ; )

Seriously, he is?? I take you word for it but he could've fooled me. That lout mocked the Jets non-stop on the HFLN's post game after last year's Thursday night 13-10 loss at New England as if they were 'buttfumble' hopeless and got blown out.

Yeah, he talked about is early on when NFLN first launched, I think the guys have him a lot of grief for it so he ended up sort of jovially crapping on the Jets, I don't believe most of it is sincere though. I've listened to his podcast and also interviews on Dan Patrick and he is just sarcastic about it most times.

Edit: he mocked the Jets the same way most Jets fans did that night, actually. You should have heard me, the stuff he said was tame.

dude... he's a Jets fan.... maybe that's where the jet hate you sense is coming from, its self induced jet hate that we all have.

I wasn't reacting to the Jet hate comment--it's silly. I was reacting to the snarky description.

I have never felt Eisen was a Jet hater. I actually have no idea what predilection he has to any teams.

I should have truncated Joes original post.

Ive watched NFL network the last couple of years BUT once they went right to commercial after the opening of the draft I decided to give ESPN a try…. long story short, I ended up watching the entire first round on ESPN and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Neither. I found the best method last night: stream the NFL.com feed to the TV via Chromecast.

It turns out the online show is different than the Eisen/Irvin/Mayock production. It's a relatively no-name host with (gulp) Matt Millen and Charlie Casserly, BUT all they do is discuss football and the players. Nobody is trying to shine, nobody is going for snark and must-see moments. They cut to the Eisen group for 4-5 minutes at a time, but mostly they just sit in the studio and talk, you know, FOOTBALL. It was way, way, way better than regular ESPN or NFLN.

    Bump....

I can't decide what channel to watch this year. I usually watch NFL network but I cant stand Mayock with the "quicker than fast" critique with every player drafted...
