Jordan Matthews hands down in the second round...and possibly Troy Nicklas or Pierre Desir in the third round.
Round 2: CB Stanley Jean Baptiste(Be on the lookout for this guy, really fits the style we run) Round 3: WR Bruce Ellington
Names to keep in mind tomorrow (Besides Lee, he will be gone by 49): WR - Matthews Moncrief Richardson Adams RObinson TE- Amaro Seferian-Jenkins Niklas OL- Moses Kouladijo Or an OLB, ILB, OG, or CB .. Pierre Desir maybe?
Bruce is too similar to Kerley IMO.... I was thinking ....any chance we can trade for Stevie Johnson?
Remaining players that visited the Jets, projected in rounds 2-4. Keith McGill (CB, Utah) Marqise Lee (WR, USC) Paul Richardson (WR, Colorado) Jarvis Landry (WR, LSU) Dri Archer (RB/WR, Kent State) Jace Amaro (TE, Texas Tech) CJ Fiedorowicz (TE, Iowa) Troy Niklas (TE, Notre Dame) Austin Seferian-Jenkins (TE, Washington) Demarcus Lawrence (OLB, Boise State) Jimmy Garoppolo (QB, Eastern Illinois) I'll predict Troy Niklas and Jarvis Landry for Friday night.
a lot of options... I predict the Jets WILL trade up tomorrow, this is where having all those picks can translate to moving up the board. As much as I like Lee he'll probably go to Cleveland or Oakland unless the jets give them an offer they can't refuse. That should include a second and fourth at the very least, but honestly it might be worth it in the end, this guy is made for our offense. I wonder what TE will fall to the third?
Cody Latimer would be a nice pick. I had not paid much attention to this guy during the season because, well, who the hell watches Indiana football? So, I looked at highlight packages and I saw a bunch of stuff that will translate well to the NFL. He is explosive, positions his body well to keep defenders from the ball Alshon Jeffery-style, and he is really quick in getting his head around to get in position to catch the ball. That last trait will be of great assistance in two minute drills. He is not some sloppy player like Stephen Hill who can only run certain patterns and is useless half the time. Latimer is going to be a pain for defensive backs to deal with because he has quick hip action. I like a bunch of receivers in this draft, but I am leaning towards Latimer as far as the ones still available.
My list: 1) Marquis Lee 2) Jordan Matthews 3) Jace Amaro 4) Troy Niklas 5) Kyle Van Noy 6) Trent Murphy I don't know enough about a lot of the OG's but they'd be in the mix as well.
I like Van Noy a lot. I like Niklas a tad more than Amaro, but am cool with either one. I like the way Lee plays. He runs well and he plays with passion and aggression. My only concern is the attitude. He might be a pain in the neck to deal with. I don't see him being as ridiculous as Randy Moss and Terrell Owens and Santonio Holmes, but he may have to be monitored. I see him as a guy who will complain if he is not getting the ball enough.
I don't know how you came to that conclusion about Lee. He may have other flaws, but him being a pain in the neck has never been one of them. By all accounts, he's a great kid with a good head on his shoulders.
It would be hard to turn down Van Noy, but we do need to pick up a receiver of some kind eventually. I'm a ND fan so I do like Niklas a lot, but he isn't anything special when it comes to elevating and high pointing balls, which makes him an average red zone threat. Also while he's a pretty good blocker usually, he'll also quite often whiff badly on blocks, especially with more technically savvy pass rushers. He does fill a roll that we really lack on this team despite my limited misgivings. And as far back as Trent Murphy is on my list, he seems like a Rex Ryan OLB. Whatever happens a very good player in a position of need should fall our way.
He was flagged twice for yelling at officials in one game and there has been talk of this guy being a complainer. It might just be college age immaturity. I like him a lot as a player. I just don't want another "me" guy on the team. Maybe he will not be that. Maybe the Jets have determined he will not be a nuisance. If that is the case, he would be great to have on the team.
Well, that's different than him supposedly complaining about not getting the ball. Mostly everyone tends to yell at officials sometimes during the heat of the moment. I know I have.
Man I want Jordan Mathews to play for the Jets. This kid is a player. I don't think he will last until our pick, but If endorse a trade up if they can swing it. CJ Fiedorowicz in the third.
I want Lee and/or Seferian-Jenkins. I am ok giving up one of our 4th rounders to move up if that's what it takes.
The Jets do not have a blocking TE. ASJ is talented, but he is just an upgraded version of Cumberland. Amaro is a somewhat upgraded version of Sudfeld. The Jets need a meat smasher TE that can catch. CJ Fed plz.
