I hate when people complain about a players attitude coming out of college. These kids were superstars in college half the time. They were the center of attention at their schools and have huge heads. There are very few prospects who don't have that ego. Everything changes when they are boys among men in the NFL locker room. Attitudes can be fixed. Talent can not. If there is a HUGE talent at a position, like Ebron, you just don't pass on him because he has an attitude. That's such a dumb ass reason. Draft him and let him try and give his attitude to players that are years older than him who have been in the league for years. He won't be the center of attention anymore. Comparing him to Holmes is unfair. Two totally different players.
Please stop with this shit for the love of God. Vernon Davis is a super human athlete. He has one of the all time fastest 40 for a TE and amazing vertical. Ebron had an average 40 and an awful vert. Davis has great hands, Ebron has the highest drop rate by far out of any the top TEs .Cumberland is better athlete than Ebron. Calling Ebron the next Vernon Davis is a crime , stop perpetuating this media spun drivel.
http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2014/05/giants_draft_rumors_and_news.html Eh - I would pass. Seems like a guy that could sulk and complain if he doesn't get his way. Looks like the Giants may pass on him all because of his attitude. Giants have had some classless players in the past - if the Giants pass on him then the kid has REALLY bad judgement.
Do you realize how many hall of fame players were labeled the same exact way in every sport? Michael Jordan was always an attitude stricken player who was labeled as a "me" guy. I'm not saying yes. I'm saying that there should be other factors that make you pass up on his talent. Not just an attitude that people claim he has.
Rumors about Geno came out just before the draft, I think this is in the same vein. I never heard any bad attributes about being lazy or not getting along with teammates until this past week. Now, Ebron has some issues dropping the easy passes, lack of concentration and could be a better blocker, but that wasn't something he was really asked to do at UNC. Ebron is an amazing talent, I've seen him make some terrific catches in double coverage. I'm not saying Ebron will be the Jet's pick, but don't be quick to dismiss the possibility.
Jordan helped Pippen become a HOF player. Jordan's competitive spirit made everyone around him better. He was selfish, but at the same time he always wanted the best out of his teammates. There should be other factors that take into effect - Ebron is a beast, I wouldn't be MAD if we took him at 18 - but I hope he would prove me wrong about his attitude and buys into the team. We don't need hired gunners like Revis trying to destroy our cap in the near future.
There's no prove about Ebron having a bad attitude, teams start rumors to help their cause....smokescreen.
Again this is all speculation based on a few draft reports. I can show you numerous reports that counter that. It's all a mind game. There is never one player that comes out that negative stories don't arise. Hell, Jadeveon Clowney was all anyone ever talked about before. Now, all everyone talks about is his work ethic. There will always be negative shit that emerges. The question is, how much of it do you believe and is it enough for you to pass on the talent. That's the tough part.
A lot of teams won't consciously make a decision to deal with that. If they weren't aware of it and it turns out that's what they got they will deal with it but in NY of all places you don't draft that and not expect a media field day if it turns out all of the bad press is true.
No, it's about making our team better. Ebron would do that, I don't expect him to be around at 18 though.
I honestly don't think anyone in the Jets organization gives a flying fuck about the media. I think that was made pretty clear this offseason. If the reason they pass on him is because of the "media shit storm" they might receive, we need to fire the entire front office.
Not too many teams would let the "Superball MVP" walk rather than the value the perception as the " best receiver" on the Steelers team. Ebron is not even close to be a complete TE ala Vernor Davis, or the new studs like Gronk, Hernandez etc. He is a WR type TE with a significant me first attitude...hence the Holmes reference.
Well they won't pass on him because he can't play football or isn't the best TE in the draft. So if we pass I will let you decide why.
I hope you guys are right in regards to that. I like the kid's ability - just sick of headaches, and I am sure the owner is too.
That's part of the draft process and why guys like Idzik get paid big bucks to do it. From everything I am reading, Idzik has done his homework. He is diligent and focused on finding the perfect players. I trust him and trust the picks he makes.
