I'm keying in on some solid targets to assist the development of our young QB, strengthening our Oline, addressing our secondary, aiding our running game, and adding character and leadership to this roster.

    1) Zack Martin, T/G/C, Notre Dame

If Martin makes it past Baltimore, this is just a matter of BPA to me. I don't believe Dennard or Dix will be available. I like Fuller, Cooks and Beckham, but believe Martin just represents better value at 18.
I love the versatility and intelligence he brings to the line. Start teaching him RT, LT, and G straight away. Play him wherever the weakest link or injury may be in 2014. Eventually he will end up a T.
i believe you can pencil this guy into the Jets lineup for 10 years, and has pro bowl potential at a number of positions.
2 year captain at Notre Dame. I believe he would be a top 10 pick in last years draft.

TRADE UP toward top of 2nd round and take:
    2) Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt

We need playmakers, we need reliable targets that gain separation to help out Geno Smith.
Matthews has the size at 6'3", runs great routes, has big hands, blocks well, good speed, and has the maturity and work ethic of someone beyond his years. Should slide right in as our X receiver, giving us 2 big bodies on the edges.
He should absolutely be a 1st round pick. but the depth of this draft could end up being our good fortune.
i expect we'll need to give up the 49, the Tampa 4th rounder, plus our 5th rounder, in order to move up somewhere in the 35-40 range to get this done. well worth it in my opinion.

    3) CJ Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa

Complete TE, who should help in our run game, moving the chains, and in the red zone.
Many see him as 4th round value. However, i think if the Jets want this guy, they need to get it done in the third.

4 (from Tampa): Traded for Matthews

4: TRADE to Houston for Johnathan Joseph

We are in the 4th round, and the Jets still have not addressed the secondary.
It's a good time to pull the trigger on a trade, and i do believe the Jets already have trade feelers out there.
i have seen Claiborne suggested to be traded, but i don't think a 4th rounder makes sense for the Cowboys, and they'd take a bigger cap hit. Flowers doesn't fit well for the Jets press man coverage, which is exactly why the Chiefs are looking to deal him.
I believe Joseph makes a ton of sense for the Jets, as well as the Texans. Houston is in full on rebuild, and that is a lot of future salary they can recoup.
The Jets get a leader in that secondary, who is still playing at a premium level. Hopefully between him and Patterson, we always have one healthy.

4 (Comp): Craig Loston, S, LSU

Another piece to building up that secondary for the future.

    5: Traded for Matthews

    6th and 7th round:

I'm not even going to try to predict the late rounds.
Just hope we look to fill out roster spots at positions we are thin at, and select guys that can make the team with ST contributions.
Really like Tom Hornsey, P, Memphis, and am interested in John Brown's speed.
Hopefully a couple of these guys can make the roster.

Other than the Joseph trade (I'd rather just draft the best CB available at that pick) I like. Is it realistic? Not sure as anything with trades can be iffy and Martin might not fall that far. But if it happened I wouldn't be too upset, would be nice to get an OLB at some point as well but maybe with one of the picks you didn't list.

Don't want dinosaur arms Martin. Its looking like he won't even make it to the Jets anyway. If Idzik did draft him there would boos not heard since Kyle Brady was drafted in the 90's. I like Matthews but can't understand why he not more highly rated.

Just an excellent draft all around though Martin probably won't be there at 18 and I don't think the fans will care for it. Martin is a great leader though and was well loved during his time for Notre Dame.

I'd be so pissed if we took Martin with first pick.

With so many different weapons on the board, taking an offensive lineman first would be absolutely terrible.

While I wouldn't want Martin at #1, I readily admit he could be a very safe and good pick. I like Mathews a lot, although I'd hate to give up the 5th to move up. I also like Fiedorowicz. I would be very happy to add Joseph if they could get him for only a 4th round pick, but can't imagine that. Like the Loston pick, too. Depending upon who the picks in the 6th & 7th rounds, I could be very happy with this draft.

you could argue a solid Oline will aid Geno and the offensive progression more than 1 of those weapons.
in this mock, picked up a couple really good targets in round 2 and 3 as well.

all that said, Martin is really shooting up boards, and for the right reasons.
not by combine numbers, but by interviews, work ethic, football intelligence, etc.. He may end up top 10. But if for some reason he is still there at 18, I think the Jets would be hard pressed to find a BPA than Martin.

Martin is going to be a stud no matter what position he ends up at, and in terms of college production was probably the best tackle in this draft. I wouldn't have a problem taking him at all, and could as a rookie solve a lot of problems we've had at guard and slide to the position of most need when injuries inevitably arise.

Of the second (or third depending on how you look at it) tier of WR's, Matthews looks like a good one. I'd hate to have to trade even late picks with this draft being so deep, but we're not going to be able to take 12 guys on regardless.
I hope we take a good look at TJ Jones out of Notre Dame in the mid/late rounds, he's going to be a very good slot receiver in the league.

Solid draft bro !! Like it a lot.

Don't know enough about Martin, but hearing some good things. Upgrading the OL ( starter and good backups ) is great.
Also adding Fiedorowicz in the 3rd would potentially make our run blocking top notch.

Jets would be stacked on both offensive and defensive trenches.
Pushing the opposition around, IMPOSING OUR WILL ON PEOPLE. LOVE IT !!!!
Man...!!! even if we don't win the game.....love the idea of beating teams up physically !!
( tired of being the kid that gets picked on... getting abused by teams like the Ravens and Steelers )

Big fan of Jordan Mathews.. Would have no problem trading up for him. ( and will have to in the 2nd )

Getting Jonathan Joseph for a 4th and 5th.... will that be enough to get him??? IF that is enough... no brainer for me !!

This draft is so deep.... all I want is for the Jets to get 2 above average starters. NOT JUST JAGS..
Plus a few decent depth guys... SHOULD BE able to do this.

I would love 2 starters, but your draft --->> we get 3-4 instant starters !!

If this is what the Jets do..!! BOOOOOO YAH !!
Got me really pumped ,, THX BacktoQueens :)

I would take Martin at 18, Matthews MIGHT not be there in the 2nd round. Johnathan Joseph is 30 yrs of age with a large cap hit however. I worry about both guard positions and the RT position so Martin would be a good pick even if it's not the BPA.
