With all the rumors going around about us taking a QB, I have to ask everybody, come Thursday if we take a QB what would your reaction be?

obviously it depends on who it is and in what round we select him. I would be disappointed if we spent a first round pick on anyone except maybe Bridgewater. The other two guys I am high on are Jimmy G and Tom Savage, ideally in the third or fourth but I would understand if we had to spend a second to nab them.

I wouldn't mind if it was Bridgewater in the first.

I wouldn't mind if it was Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, or Carr in the second.

Any round after that I can understand taking a QB.

Selecting a QB at 18 is probably the single most exciting scenario for me as a Jets fan.

Not because I personally believe any QB is/isn't worth a selection there, but because if the Jets use their 1st round pick on a QB the year after starting a rookie they took in the 2nd round and going 8-8, it means they are SUPREMELY confident that the guy they take has a legit shot to be a 15 year franchise QB.

So while it might not be what I think will happen, or am expecting, it would have me through-the-roof amped up more than (almost) any possible scenario.

    I'd be ecstatic with:

Teddy, Carr or Manziel at 18 (and I'd probably be happy with Bortles 20-30 minutes later if any of my first 3 are still on the board).

Bortles or Garoppolo in the 2nd. Probably even Mettenberger.

Mettenberger, Savage or McCarron in the 3rd.

Any of Murray, Boyd, Fales, Brett Smith or Stephen Morris at the end of the 4th or later.

Depending on value, of course, I'd be kind of torn but willing to see how it plays out before jumping to conclusion. Also depends on who we pass up and how the rest of the draft goes. Getting a new QB is great but they still need weapons, we still have holes at CB, OLB and FS. So if we lose out on drafting guys that can help in those spots just to get a new QB that might not even play this year...I don't know how I would feel about that to be honest.

This is the same team (different GM) that took Gholsten at 6..I would temper my enthusiasm and let it play out. Oh and they started a rookie because their other QB was dead.

Only way I'd want one in the first three rounds if these guys were available in these rounds

Bortles or Johnny in round 1
Jimmy G Derek Carr in round 2
    Teddy B in round 3

Hope we grab one of these late

Fales, Murray, McCarron, Mettenberger rounds 4-6

Hope we stay far far away from Boyd, Savage, Thomas

Nah, if the GM is different then there's no meaningful similarity in my view. I don't believe in curses and the like. Idzik, right or wrong, has a very strong and clear persona/direction, and that is enough for me.

I think I would be disappointed in any before fourth round unless we traded back and gained picks. We need a talent infusion.

    Only Bridgewater at 18.

Besides that I wouldn't touch a QB until the 4th round.

In terms of stock, Stephen Morris is the Marquise Lee of the QB class except Morris's stock crashed while Lee's just dipped. Morris has gone from a potential first-round pick to a third-day selection or even UDFA status. His fall from grace is the kind usually relegated to the character issues guys. That said, but "Coke" Lyerla's stock seem to have taken less of a hit this past year than Morris's. It's kind of baffling when you consider Morris was dealing with an ankle injury most of the season that prohibited him to be able to step into his throws, the lack of easy throws in Miami's offense and the amount dropped passes. Note to scouts, the first round talent is still there; it didn't magically disappear.

    STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
STRENGTHS: Quick athlete with elusive moves and excellent feel in the pocket to maneuver around the noise to keep plays alive. Sets up quickly in the pocket and stays balanced through his delivery, showing precise downfield vision and touch. Has improved substantially with his pre-snap recognition skills to find mismatches and understand where he wants to go with the football before the pocket collapses. All the arm strength needed for the next level.

WEAKNESSES: Modest height and build, and has room to refine his footwork. Almost too much confidence in his arm at times, which will get him in trouble. Too often late to diagnose and react to the blitz. Disappointing decision making as a senior with a lot of experience.

    PLAYER OVERVIEW
Every draft class seems to have an enigma prospect at the quarterback position, and Morris definitely fits that description as a very perplexing and polarizing player.

He has a golden arm to effortlessly spin the ball anywhere on the field with the athleticism and toughness to match, and was a standout at the Manning Passing Academy in 2013 while performing next to the likes of Johnny Manziel and A.J. McCarron.

However, Morris' performance against some of the ACC's second-level teams in 2013 was another reminder why most are struggling to consider him as one of the best senior quarterbacks for the 2014 NFL Draft. In the showdown against Florida State, Morris interchanged questionable decision-making with strong, pinpoint passes that kept Miami in the game through halftime. He was inconsistent again in losses to Virginia Tech and Duke that dropped Miami from undefeated to out of the Top 25 in three weeks.

Complicating the evaluation on Morris is the Achilles strain that bothered him for most of his senior season. It clearly affected his ability to step into passes and led to more wobbly passes and turnovers than he likely would have suffered had Morris been fully healthy.

Morris earned the nickname "Tin Cup" from some scouts at the Senior Bowl due to his ability to make the amazing throw but struggles with the routine passes commonplace in every NFL offense. Morris boasts a strong arm and throws the deep ball with touch but like the other two quarterbacks on the North squad (Boyd and Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas), he struggled with accuracy throughout the week.

I would be happy with Bridgewater, Manziel, or Bortles at 18. I believe if the Jets did take a QB, then they probably feel VERY strongly about them.

If the Jets take a QB in the 1st they take a QB in the 1st. I wouldn't be that upset if that's how it turned out. It would mean they had decided Geno was not the guy and they were going to fix the position once and for all.

I'd be happy with the status quo but if the Jets weren't happy with it I'd understand.

Any round after the 1st I expect the Jets could take a QB if the right guy fell to their pick.
