Round 1) Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina Ebron slides to the Jets and if addresses a big hole for us at TE. Cumberland is a perfect #2 guy and Ebron will compliment him nicely. I think they will both push one another too. Geno needs a guy that can be a missmatch on safety's and can work in the redzone and vertically up the middle of the field. Round 2) Jason Verrett, CB, TCU Verrett could fall to us because of his small frame and it would be amazing if he did. He is a perfect M2M cover corner that has great ball skills, elite speed and excellent football instincts. Round 3) Cyril Richardson, G, Baylor Winters has been a bit of a project and inconsistent in his first year. Guard is a position of need here and Cyril is one of the best in the draft. Round 4) Arthur Lynch, TE, Georgia With Cumberland signed, Lynch would be a solid blocking TE that can still make a big redzone play. Round 4) Tre Boston, S, North Carolina A ball hawk that can move all over the field and is a true FS we need. Hopefully he can learn under Reed for one season. Round 4) Adrian Hubbard, OLB, Alabama Definitely a project for Rex but has all the physical tools to be an effective pass rusher. Round 5) Marion Grice, RB, Arizona State Grice is a multi tool back. He can catch the ball as well as he can run it. MM has had plenty of success with those types of RBs. Round 6) Josh Huff, WR, Oregon Huff is perfect for a WCO with his speed and YAC abilities. He would be a steal in the 6th round! Round 6) Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma Would probably sit next season out but is a top notch value pick here and could hit the jackpot down the road. Round 6) Beau Allen, DT, Wisconsin This kid is a monster of a human! Rex would want him on the team just so he can marvel at him every day. Not polished and very raw but has all the tools at 6'5'' and 325 to be a BOOM prospect at NT in the future or if Snacks/Ellis gets hurt.. Round 6) Kirby Van Der Kamp, P, Iowa State We need a punter and this kid is the best in the biz coming out this year. Round 7) A.J. Tarpley, ILB/OLB, Stanford Tarpley is just a solid football player that mostly plays ILB but can jump to the outside to confuse coverages. He would probably start on special teams and move up if there are injuries.
Hard for me to get behind 2 TEs in the first 4 rounds and no WR until round 6. Have no problem with Ebron, but Lynch over a WR in a mock is strange.
I like your picks too, except for the first round. I'm of the very strong opinion that Ebron is not within the first 24 spots on the Jets proprietary BPA list. They will go WR, OL, OLB first
I think it's tough to gage what the Jets will do because we have so many picks.. I tried to cover our needs and still respect the players we have brought in thru the FA market and that are on the team.
It's a stretch no doubt.. I am banking on GMs liking Fuller/Dennard/Gilbert/Roby more and he slips because of his size..
I don't know anything about Arthur Lynch, so I wont pretend I will. It feels like since the offseason began, Ebron was the Jets guy if he made it there. I think I'd prefer a WR a la Cooks or Beckham. If them along with Lee/Evans/Watkins are gone, I guess I can understand it. I just don't love the idea of a first round TE. I would rather grab Amaro/ASJ/Niklas/CJ in the second or third.
please no Ebron, I'm telling you guys, he is not that good. I'd rather have Logan Thomas that's how bad I think he is.
