So Eric Allen gave his followers a chance to pick a player for the first 18 slots (no trades). he gave each pick 4 hours of responses, and then i think an entire day for the Jets pick. Results as follows:

    1) HOU: Clowney
    2) STL: Watkins
    3) JAX: Manziel
    4) CLE: Bortles
    5) OAK: K.Mack
    6) ATL: G.Robinson (T)
    7) TB: M.Evans
    8) MIN: Bridgewater
    9) BUF: J.Matthews (T)
    10) DET: HaHa (S)
    11) TEN: Gilbert (CB)
    12) NYG: T.Lewan (T)
    13) STL: D.Dennard (CB)
    14) CHI: A.Donald (DT)
    15) PIT: A.Barr (OLB)
    16) DAL: C.Pryor (S)
    17) BAL: O.Beckham (WR)
    18) NYJ: E.Ebron (TE)

I would pass out if Ebron was available at 18 but he will not get passed the Giants.

  3. I'm not so sure about that anymore. That OL was BAD last year & if they think Geoff Scwartz is the answer, they are kidding themselves. Eli's recent surgery makes it crucial that they go OL if the value is there.

If not, yeah Ebron could be in play. Don't rule out defense either..cause that unit was just about as bad as the OL was

I am actually hearing a lot about teams high up that he has been projected to that have serious concerns. Some dont like this character, others just dont like drafting at TE that high. Either way, as of now he is trending down.

IMO if he gets past Giants there is only one team that is a threat to pick him; PITT. Dallas wont they have Gavin Escobar and Wittin. BAL wont they have Owen Daniels and Pitta. CHI is definitely going D and have martellus bennett. You really dont even have to mention ST Louis, no one is projecting them to have interest in him. Even with PITT being a potential suitor, i dont think they will pick him. Truthfully think that a corner is there far and away biggest need and if for some reason they deviate from that, TE wont be the position they do it for.

Guys, some teams are thinking twice about drafting Ebron. Maturity coming into question, dropping easy passes, lacking concentration are real concerns by some. If EE is available at #18 it's a no brainer.

Players rising like Z Martin, OBJ & Aaron Donald could push Ebron down.

Is anybody else kinda underwhelmed over Ebron?

From what little I've seen he doesn't seem like a guy thats gonna be an instant boon to the passing game, or rather I think that his game needs refining if its supposed to be something special in the pro's. hell I'd rather roll with Niklas in the second to provide a solid pass blocking alternative to Cumberland than draft him @ #18.

he's got LOADS of potential, don't get me wrong, measurables are off the charts and all that, but I look at him like a project not much further than cumberland in terms of being a receiver, I can't help but shake the feeling that more difficult coverage's are gonna give him trouble... at first.

hes an investment I wouldn't expect big things from in 2014, but then once again I haven't seen much of him, I'm willing to get ripped on that opinion.

BTW, If the draft fell that way, I'd draft Z Martin, a player that can play OG or OT.

I would be happy with a Martin selection

  10. The thing about Ebron is he's so athletic you can use him on the outside as a WR if the situation calls for it.It's not often you find a guy w/ his size & body control who can take the top off a defense.

So if he struggles early w/ some of the 2 way TE aspects..you can still easily find a place for him elsewhere in the passing game.Hopefully he rounds out the rest of his game over time.

I still like Austin Sefarian Jenkins almost as much. He doesn't have quite the electrifying straight line speed, but he's a huge target that is impossible to match-up with, great hands & body control. He's also a much better blocker both in the running game & in pass pro. The only advantages Ebron has over him is ability after the catch & the versatility to line up wide. ASJ is more of your conventional TE.

If the Jets are interested in a TE prospect with off the charts measurables but maturity concerns they may be better off taking a flyer at Colt Lyerla in the 6th/7th rather than risking a 1st on Eric Ebron.

I'd rather have ASJ too or the Notre Dame kid. I think that Niklas could be the steal of this draft for someone. Great bloodlines, great TE program, he's freakinhuge. He's just reaching his stride too, having not played TE very long since switching positions. If someone gets ahold of him and pumps him full of PEDs like New England did with Gronk, he could become another Gronk, I truly believe that.

ASJ will be good as well, I like the way that kid plays.

I wouldn't even be surprised if that Logan Thomas turns out to something at the TE position. He's a project sure, but worth it in the 6 or 7th round.

That's why I definitely hope they don't take Ebron or that he's not there when they pick. This draft is deep. Tight ends in later rounds are always panning out even in weak drafts. Get one of them when you can and use your first rounder on a more important position IMO

    Sheep.

I have been saying this for months. Finally, 2 days before the draft, you a see a story like this, a dose of reality amid all the hype surrounding this guy.

    http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9390/eric-ebron

"Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports teams are souring on North Carolina TE Eric Ebron due to his "high maintenance sort of personality."

Pauline specifically mentioned the Giants, one of the league's tight end-neediest teams, at No. 12 overall as a club backing off Ebron. "He's a me type of player and he always has been," Pauline continued. "He's a me type of person on the field and off the field. He's the kind of guy that was complaining when he didn't feel he was getting the ball enough."

There is about a 0% chance the Giants take him. If they did, I would be very happy.

Ebron is possibly the most overhyped player for this draft.

I agree, I personally don't want him, there will decent TE's later on.

More player drama for the Jets? Need that like another HIMH....Holmes, Tebow now Ebron? No thanks..Idzik is also "open minded" about getting a QB according to NYPost. Why hasn't anyone suggested CJ Fedorowitz too. Maybe take 2 TEs in draft? At some point, after getting CB/S we HAVE to build an Offense.

I prefer ASJ precisely because he is a more conventional 2-way TE. I saw Ebron on the local news last night. He's from Greensboro, NC. He was talking like he already is a complete player and good blocker. That was offputting to me. His blocking needs work, and I've read or heard that his attitude towards blocking was rather indifferent. I don't know what the truth of the matter is, but if those things are right about Ebron, then I have a lot less interest in him. I don't like Amaro at all, but at least I haven't read anything about his not being willing to work to get better. If the Jets take Ebron, I'll hope all the negatives about him are wrong, but I'm still of the opinion that I think the Jets would be better served taking ASJ, Niklas or Fiedorowicz over Ebron.

His agility sucks, he can't jump, his hands are very questionable, blocking needs work, comes off as a meathead asshat.... Ebron is a fraud as a first rounder. We already have a much better TE on the team in Cumberland.

Eric Ebron compared himself to Vernon Davis who, in his words, "Blocks, catches, runs, does everything great. I can do it all (too).”

What a joke. You run a 4.6. You don't block. You don't "do everything great." You're not Vernon Davis, man.
