I'd take Bortles and Bridgewater over Carr but besides that very good rankings. Prefer Mettenberger over Murray too. I think Zack Martin gets taken ahead of Lewan as well for character alone. if the Bills or Titans don't take Lewan, Zack Martin who I think might be the Giants guy might be ahead of him.
I like Mettenberger over Murray too. Mettenberger would have been my # 6 QB. Murray is just someone I like later on in the draft.
Good rankings. I'd put Bortles above Carr. I'd put Cooks above Beckham. I'd move Ebron down to 4th on the TE list. I also think Terrance West will be a steal for whomever gets him and I'd put him above Freeman.
I like it a lot....I'm torn with M. Lee. Following USC closely, I'm struggling to determine his ceiling. If we get the 2012 M. Lee then I would rank him higher, if we get the inconsistent 2013 version, then the ranking is dead on. Great job
Lee caught 191 balls for 2,864 yards and 25 TD's in a WCO as a freshman and a sophomore. There is almost no chance that those numbers don't turn into a major star, assuming he's healthy and can stay that way. Last year was a nightmare for USC in general. New QB, multiple head coaches and Lee was hurt most of the season. If the Jets pass on him to take a guy who is not a star and Lee reaches his potential we will be talking about this pick for a generation. It'll be Marino and O'Brien all over again.
A big part of why I've been so reluctant on Lee, is that I am well aware of the history of USC and QBs, and I've been bitter about how none of them work out, especially Mark. (I know, I know, different positions..) In my own rankings, he's been in the 4-5 area, but now that I was reading above post, it dawned on me that Lee did everything he did while battling injuries, and having horrid QB play, making all the more impressive. Hmm.
Good rankings. I'd go Teddy, Carr, Manziel and I'd love to somehow grab Tre Mason. WR I'd like later on is Josh Huff. _
It was a horrible season for USC. Kiffin got fired. Barkley had been the man for 4 years and he left. They lost another talented receiver in Woods. Then Lee got hurt. It's like we got a chance to see Lee's floor if the world exploded around him and he still led USC in catches and he was going strong at the beginning before he got hurt and then again at the end when he had recovered some and the games were really big.
Everybody has their down sides though. I'm not much of a college sports fan, so it's a little rough for me trying to evaluate talent in the draft.
Lee is not a big receiver, which is kind of negated by the fact that Cooks and Beckham are also on the small side. He doesn't have the greatest hands, which would be a real issue if he hadn't caught 248 balls in 3 years. He's not a perfect prospect but he's better than Cooks and completely off the charts compared to Beckham. The star factor is a real thing. Both Lee and Cooks have been a star and that is their expectation level for themselves. They see themselves as a star and they have produced at that level. Beckham hasn't done that since high school. Whether he can get it back or not is a real question.
yeah but that is kind of what he can expect in the NFL. changes to QB, OC, targets, injuries.....that's the big boy league. he regressed with adversity, which is not what i want to see. i think he could thrive with the Saints or Patriots, but i just don't see him being the answer for the Jets. if you want to talk consistency, production, and elevating their game throughout adversity, Jordan Matthews is that guy. all time SEC receiving records, has the size, the hands, decent NFL speed, and an incredible maturity and passion for the game. he got better every year, despite the chaos around him, and teams keying in to stop Vanderbilt's top weapon.. WW85, where does Matthews land on your rankings?
# 7........just behind Davante Adams. 2 of theWrs that may have the best NFL careers could be drafted in Round 2.....Jordan Matthews and Jarvis Landry. Matthews has the work ethic & Landry has the best hands in this draft, measurables keep them both out of round 1.
good stuff, i'm a big fan of Landry too.. would totally take Landry in round 2 even tho the expert mocks suggest he'll go later. what measurables keep Matthews out of the 1st tho? 6'3" WR, 4.44 combine speed, 21 reps on the bench, big hands. I don't think the combine dropped him at all. I will say tho, despite the 4.44 time, i don't believe he has straight line burner speed. But i think he can win the 1 on 1 battles, move the chains, be a red zone threat, and play the split end position for the Jets for many many years. I'd take that in the first... absolute steal in the second.
I can't see Xavier S'ua-Filo making it to our pick in the second round but he'll be a solid starter for the next 10 years whatever team he goes to. I'm not even we'd take him with our pick at 49 with this WR/CB need but I'd give the pick an A if we got him.
I like and agree with all the other positions, but there's no way that I see Bortles and Carr being better than Bridgewater. In fact, Bortles is the bottom of the list imo. I think Garoppalo's a much better prospect than Bortles. If Manziel got the nod over Teddy, it would be because of his playmaking ability. I'd rank the QBs: Bridgewater Manziel Carr Garoppalo Bortles At RB, I think Tre Mason is the best . Hyde would be at least #2, possibly lower.
