The OP was suggesting that you only submit grades for players coming up to the 18 pick. Why wouldn't you grade every player available before that? And not just players you think may be available? I'm looking at these boards and for the most part they exclude most of the supposed elite talent in the first round. There is a possibility that every single player coming out falls. Maybe not a probability, but definitely a probability.
I know....at #18 you kind of want to trade up a bit and get one of the good guys or just say fuck it and trade down a bit and get a few more players. But on the bright side it will only get worse as the Jets get better. It kind of makes you respect the teams that draft at the end year and year and somehow manage to stay very competitive.
End of the first you pretty much know exactly who will be available but middle of the first you have no idea really.
Sorry abyzmul. I did not mean to imply that at all. I though I mentioned that I shorten my list based solely on what I though would be available for us around the 18th pick and frankly out of laziness. I strongly believe good to great NFL teams that subscribe to the BPA philosophy rate sequentially the top 100-150 players as a minimum if not more. They also rate the rest based on quartiles, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. They then use the data to determine how to pull the trigger on their choices. Its not absolute, they might deviate a bit but not a lot . They will not pass on a remaining ILB that they rated in the first quartile for instance, while the best TE and top WR is in the third or fourth quartile. Is just a way to help assess value versus need.
Anything's possible, but of your first group, I think the only ones that have much chance of being there are Robinson, Moncrief and Bitonio. Of the second group, Bryant, Van Noy, Benjamin, and Mason may be the only ones there. I want no part of Martavis Bryant. I think he's another Hill. Neither do I want Benjamin. I'd hope that neither would Idzik, but he may see things very differently. So out of Robinson, Moncrief, Bitonio, Van Noy and Mason, I think Mason would probably be at the bottom of the list and Van Noy could possibly be at the top. I'm terrible at this, but will take a stab at it. If all 15 players are there, following is how I think Idzik might rank them: A. Seferian-Jenkins M. Lee K. Ealy C. Koundjaio J. Verret J. Attaochu J. Bitonio J. Mathews K. Van Noy A. Robinson T. Niklas D. Moncrief M. Bryant K. Benjamin T. Mason
No apology necessary man, I think this is a great idea, I just think that there's some limitations built in that maybe are holding back the potential for this thread.
i agree not to hijack the ops thread, but i think everyone should post their big boards from 1-20 ... if idzik is really picking the bpa, we can cross off the names that get drafted before 18 and see if the guy on the top of our respective boards is the pick
