I thought so at first too but then that seems to obvious for GRRM. I'm sure that will be part of it but might be a little cheesy for this material

Probably a little late catching this discussion, and I know more episodes have been shown that reveal more, but trying to find the answer during the scene preceding his death is a bit of a waste of time. Why was Tyrion forced into the role as Master of Coin? Because Littlefinger was sent as envoy to the Tyrells. Who was the one person who really knew about Joffrey's death before it happened? During the moments of Joff's death, Ser Dontos (LF's employer) accosts Sansa and tells her they need to leave immediately. In the next episode, LF has Dontos killed, and crushes the necklace she was wearing during the wedding, then tosses it into the sea. There's no concrete proof, but you have to wonder about the Tyrell presence with Littlefinger and wonder about what discussions they had while LF was in Highgarden. Lady Olenna knew about what a monster her granddaughter was marrying and yet she was the first person to call for aid for Joffrey. You just gotta wonder.
Actually the scene right before was pretty well done too. "Your brother chose me to fight his battle, but it was you he originally chose because he knew you'd ride day and night to save him. You haven't been to see him yet, have you? _
What I am about to talk about does not violate the spoiler rule, but it does have to do with the books. There are only 2 segments in the books that have Jaime and Cersei having sex, the first being in a tower room in Winterfell and the other being in the Sept of Baelor when Jaime first gets back to King's Landing after rescuing Brienne (this appears to have been changed to the corpse sex scene), and both times Cersei speaks outwardly of resisting Jaime's advances, but physically does little to stop it. You would have to assume that this is the game they have always played prior to coupling. Because they have always been told that it is forbidden.
Yeah the first time in the tower was just Jamie hitting it doggy with no resistance, this last episode she was telling him to stop but doing nothing to stop it. Those whitewalker lords at the end of the episode looked kickass though we found out what they've been doing with the 'sacrifices'. I'm just a show watcher haven't read any of the books so I always wondered why Crastor was giving the males away and what the Whitewalkers were doing with them.
Jaime took her against the wall in the tower at Winterfell and she protested, same as in the Sept of Baelor. As far as the sacrifices, there isn't much told in the books about Crastor's sacrifices that isn't told in the show. Reading fans mostly speculate about it.
My initial thinking was they simply ate the sacrifices but I didn't think it was that simple with such a deep show so I always pondered it so I really loved the ending. How true to the books does the show keep to?
I can't really get into that without risking giving things away, all I can say is that there are mostly cosmetic changes, and then there are other changes that actually confuse people that have read the books. Overall, it is a pretty interesting translation, and most of it makes sense. But not all of it. As far as the Others, they are mostly as much of a mystery to readers as watchers.
My take is it stays relatively close to the source material but it does stray from time to time seemingly for no particular reason. The fact that I don't see the purpose for the changes bothers me more than the fact that they are making changes. Sometimes they cut out a character or merge two characters together and I can get that, it's already a huge cast. But sometimes it's like they are just changing for the sake of changing. Like abyzmul said there isn't much known about the white walkers in the books. I think we've actually learned more from the show than the books about them, especially recently.
Thoughts on last nights episode? Don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet, don't know what the rules on talking about episodes aired or grace periods lol...but, that 1 Jon Snow scene...
I'm not a huge fan of the show, my GF is and my son is, but I'll watch it. And I have been enjoying it. Gotta say, that episode was a bit boring. Scenes for next week look good though, could be a bounceback week. _
John snow scene was great -- definitely the best of the episode. I don't know what to think of Cat Starks sister. She seems just as crazy as her son robin. Man sanza had it made married to Tyrion... robin is a wacko
