I can't seem to find a corresponding article but NFLN has a report on their side scroller. 4.66 at his size (6'6 270" & his body control is Gronk-like. If he is healthy he is 100% worth a top 20 pick. No he can't run go routes over top the safeties like Ebron can..but he is very fluid for a guy his size with tremendous body control. Of the 3 elite Te's in the class, he is easily the best blocker. He is a match-up nightmare.
ASF or Amaro would be a dream scenario at #49 for me. I think Seferian-Jenkins is more likely to make it there of the two. TE has to be addressed asap. Cumby is a fine #2 but we can't go into next year with a Cumby/Sudfield combo at TE and expect our offense to get that much better. Vick or Geno are going to need that big target to rely on and be able to trust next year if they want to keep their INTS down.
ASJ falls in between the value of our 1st and 2nd rd picks. At one time, last year, ASJ was rated very close to Ebron. ASJ getting hurt didn't help his draft stock, he has an interesting upside. I think ASJ is a mid to late 20's pick right now.
Very doubtful ASJ makes it #49, there are many teams from the mid 20's to very early Rd 2 that could use a true TE. ASJ's stock will rise in the next 10 days , not fall.
Charlie Campbell ran a story on him the other day wherehe said there has been talk that ASJ may drop to round 3. He said that ASJ did a very poor job in explaining his past off the field problems during interviews with teams.
I'm sure the Jets can envision a good role for every player they've brought in for a visit, and I'm sure whoever they pick in round 1 will have some impact on who they pick later. At least some of these players we think won't fall to our pick in the second round are going to end up there, and ASJ could very well be one of them. There is no doubt he could offer a lot to the team.
I'm going back and forth between WR and TE. I would be happy with Amaro/ASJ or Lee/Beckham. I think there is a better chance of getting a WR in round two than either of the TE mentioned here. The Patriots will be taking one of these guys without a doubt because Hernandez is gone and Gronk gets hurt alot. Does anyone like Corey Lattimer? I hear he is moving up but he might be there in the 2nd round. I like WR Josh Huff in the later rounds. I would not mind Lattimer, Matthews or Robinson in the 2nd.
He had a DUI 14 months ago, and was remorseful and handled it very well. He's not a bad Kid or a thug, unlike Roby, with a DUI pending and a couple of bar fights. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...6oGQAQ&usg=AFQjCNFKkMLrZQt_bCsKbduV6OqDWaYK0A
best TE in the draft, imo ebron may be faster but he's far less shifty, smaller, worse red zone target, and has worse hands than ask ... i was hoping the ankle would push him down to the third, but id gladly take him in the second
I am not saying its true or not. Just that is what Campbell reports that ASJ has not impressed teams by taking responsibility for his mistakes. He said: Certainly the kid has talent and will be a bargain if he has the right attitude. But his attitude and character seems to be the issue. Which calls into question is he an Idzik kind of guy. If there are character concerns I doubt Idzik would go there. 4.66 is very nice but that might not be where he needs to make an impression on the Jets. All that being said I hope the reports are incorrect.
ASJ is the TE I want in this draft. Would be happy with Niklas or Fiedorowicz, but would really love to see the Jets be able to grab him in the 2nd round after taking Cooks in round 1. I'd be happier than a pig in shit, wouldn't matter what happened the rest of the draft. lol
Charlie Campbell? As in walterfootball.com? This guy is just another schlub who has maybe a tiny bit more insight than the casual fan but I guess since he has the walterfootball site to put his mocks on is viewed as some kind of expert? Was there a link at the end of his story so people could donate to his and his wife's charity, Bodi's Kitty Cause? Of course it is possible he drops to the 3rd but I don't think that is at all likely since he is viewed by most as the #2 or 3 TE in the draft
Wow. This massive dude at 6'6" 270lbs ran a 4.56 coming off foot surgery? Of true I doubt he escapes the first.
I just can't see Ebron, Amaro AND ASJ getting picked in the 1st round. Tight ends don't get picked that high that often. I bet one of the 3 will be there waiting for us in the 2nd round (though not Ebron). If not, Niklas is always an option.
Like your picks for most players but not this one. Check out the Washington vs Stanford game on the draft prospects site and you will see why. ASJ did a lot of blocking, that's it. QB would hardly throw to him when open. In short, pretty unimpressive. IMO, if Troy Niklas is available we should take him.
If he was open but the QB didn't throw to him, how is that a knock on Seferian-Jenkins? (You're saying the QB doesn't trust him?) He has no control over what plays are called. If the coach calls a running play and he is supposed to block, he's doing his job. What do you want him to do, call an audible at the line of scrimmage? He's not a great blocker on tape, but he at least is a willing one who puts in the effort, unlike Ebron.
