You really listed Ford and Campbell and picked Hill as the one who will have trouble making the roster? Even if we draft a WR and only keep 5, There is no way Jacoby Ford, Clyde Gates, or Michael Campbell are going to beat out Stephen Hill for a roster spot. Honestly, that little report about the Jets being frustrated with Hill was likely an intentional leak by the Jets to make it seem like they are leaning towards drafting a WR.

Even if we have Decker, Kerley, Rookie, and Nelson as our top 4, they still aren't going to cut Hill over Gates, Ford, Campbell, Hazelton etc.

I agree that you shouldn't draft projects like that in round 2, but the Jets did. It comes down to understanding that he is a project, which means we shouldn't have been expecting him to be a huge contributor early in his career just because of his draft position. Some people did based on that draft position. I personally think this year will give a better indicator of what his progress will be than the past two because of that project status.

I believe the Jets are frustrated with Hill and his lack of production in many games. If he improves there's no way any of those guys beats him out. They might not make the final five with or without Hill. Again they are probably going to draft one Wr (maybe high) and who knows sign an UFA who plays well in camp. To me this isn't the Jets playing head games on Hill. I think they're serious.

Even if they are genuinely getting frustrated with him, they won't just cut him. He is not a locker room nuisance, and will be depth and competition.

If they cut him someone like the Patriots would pick him up but that doesn't mean he'd be successful with them. They would love his skill set. But if he can't separate, catch the ball and follow a game plan they'd cut him too. I doubt they can practice squad him either. He might be eligible not sure probably too many starts. It's time for him to show what he can do.

Alshon was one of the best receivers in the league last year, and Hilton has been a monster at spreading the field and make huge yardage plays, both have been great players for the teams they play for and I would of taken either with the our 1st round pick in a re-draft.

I wasn't expecting him to be a HUGE contributor...but I was expecting 50 caught balls a year. To me that is not expecting too much. Now...I will absolutely agree, as I've posted before, the QB position definitely has a hand in this so it really does boil down to training camp this year. He's got to come in and show something.

TY Hilton in the first would have been a real DERP move, because too much of his production is a result of a guy named Luck passing him the ball, not to mention the majority of his production also came with Reggie Wayne playing at an all-pro level, and the rookie TE's putting in work as well. There's a reason people considered sucking for Luck, he really is that good. Alshon, maybe, but he didn't produce his rookie year either. And in 2013 he had the luxury of Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett, Matt Forte, and Jay Cutler composing their offense. The Jets had Holmes off injury, and Geno Smith throwing the ball.

I wouldn't be so sure about that since Hill doesn't play special teams and (I think) the other guys do. You're talking about the #5 WR spot. Special teams will almost certainly be a factor there.

Well firstly I don't think Hill will rank #5, I think he will be considered a starter as I said in other posts. What I meant here was more that even if he somehow drops to 5th on the depth chart, there are always injuries and competition remains important. We have plenty of special teamers in our DB's TE's LB's etc. Ford can be the #6 WR and return kicks and Kerley can continue to return punts. We don't need Hill or his roster spot to get another special teamer. Chances are we are going to draft someone who can do returns as well, whether that's the rookie WR or a rookie DB.

I doubt you can find many #5 WR's who don't play special teams.

Hill has shown flashes, like that first game against Buffalo last season, but then he disappeared.
He always seems to get up hurt after he makes a catch, weather he goes out a play or not.
I'm trying to hold judgement on this kid but he frustrates me to no end.
Until further notice I'm dubbing him a bust.
    PROVE ME WRONG STEVEN HILL!!!

Hill was a 2nd rounder anyway. Those guys are hit or miss. It is what it is.

If the Jets draft a receiver in the first round (clearly would be a better prospect) then how would Hill be considered a starter? It will take a damn miracle for Stephen Hill become a starter this season.

If the Jets draft a WR in the first round, then no Hill would probably not start, but as I've said in other posts I don't think the Jets will go WR in the first round. I'm much more inclined to guess they'll draft a defensive player in round 1. You can say I'm wrong, but only time will tell.

Stephen Hill is currently no better than the 4th receiver on the roster. unless he has made significant strides, which I strongly doubt, or we have injuries there's no way he's starting.

You've expressed this exact same sentiment numerous times, thanks. Hill started every game he was healthy for in 2013, and you all can continue to respond by saying the exact same thing about how low Hill is on the depth chart, but it doesn't freakin matter until the season starts. This argument about Hill is so nonsensical, we will know on May 8th whether they draft a receiver with their first pick. I think the chances are they go defensive player but I have stated I think it is possible they draft a WR. I understand most of the people on this board are really down on Hill, so you don't have to keep quoting my posts to remind me you don't like him. It's all speculation, and you don't have to try and convince me your speculation is less speculative than my speculation.

i agree with you 100% after the 4th wr.. the player needs to play special teams..at this point hill can only run straight deep

I'm pretty sure Hill got benched against Baltimore, and possibly another game or two.
