    select Kyle Fuller?

Him and Verrett appear to be the best cover corners in the draft. Fuller gets the advantage cause of his size. Physical, and he's also amazing in the run game.

If we go CB in the 1st round, this could be an option. Move back and get an extra pick, while picking up possibly the best, or 2nd best cover corner in the draft.

I think we'd all be all for that, but what a lot of people don't think about is that most teams are already trying to do this, making it nearly impossible to trade down.

I really don't think I can fathom taking a corner in the first round again. I just can't.

I really hope Patterson can stay healthy.

I know how you feel, but like it or not, CB is a surefire top 3 need, and if the value is there at 18, and the guy works out, imagine this team with the youth, and talent we would have, and be set with on defense.

Now that said, I'm praying for Ebron, Lee, Cooks, or Barr before we would take a CB. But that's just me.

Doubt Ebron or Barr will be there and Lee is falling. If they go WR it will probably be Beckham first and then Cooks.

I was too but the more I hear I'm not sure. They say Beckham plays just as fast as Cooks and is a better route runner and most people have him ranked higher. I think the Jets had both in so we will see.

Teams trade down every year. Saying it's nearly impossible to do something that happens all the time is a gross exaggeration at best.

well thats what, 200pts or so which translates into an extra 3rd rounder.....

i can see slipping back into the 20's but not for a corner - either WR or dare i say it OLB (ford) we can then address CB and TE in rounds 2 and 3. i do NOT want a corner in round 1 unless the top rated corner falls to 18. then u almost have to take him and like it.

You don't abandon your draft philosophy (talent-based / BPA) because of this, but look @ the Jets schedule.

You're asking for trouble going up against Aaron Rodgers, Cutler, Stafford, Peyton, Brady, Rivers and their weapons with Milliner on one side and Patterson / Kyle Wilson / Walls on the other.

If Milliner gets hurt (or benched), you've got nothing.

I could certainly live with Fuller. Good size and strong in the run game like you mention. I will be nail biting on opening day with basically two rookie corners. But this is a need pick that Idzik botched by not addressing it more strongly in the offseason.

When you look at it the Jets went up against 5 top 10 passing teams (NE twice) in the first 10 weeks last year before Milliner seemed to be coming around and won 3 of the 5. They now have Patterson or Walls replacing Cro who was not anywhere near a top notch CB last year. Dropping back and picking up an extra pick is not a terrible idea.

Not sure if Fuller is the right pick at that point but certainly wouldn't be against dropping back if the added pick was sufficient.

If Dennard is gone, maybe, it really depends on what we get in return.

I have the biggest feeling that we do trade back

If they want Fuller, they'll take him at 18. We have 12 picks, so I doubt we trade down.

I'd love to (depending on who is available), but I think finding a partner might be tough unless someone amazing falls and we decide not to pick them.

I'd much rather get one of the top two safeties in the draft than one of the top two corners. I look at that horrific array of passing teams early on and I think I'd much rather have a guy in centerfield learning and growing than a guy on the edge.

Topflight free safeties win Super Bowls. Topflight corners only win Super Bowls when they have a topflight free safety next to them. That's a bit of an oversimplification but if you track who is winning Super Bowls it's right more often than wrong.

My ideal scenario is Dennard in the 1st, and Matthews or ASJ in the 2nd.

However, i don't think any of those guys will be available when we select at those spots.
Trading back from 18, and forward from 49, could represent the most value if they can pull that off.

Take 2 guys between Martin, Fuller, Matthews and ASJ (would love Matthews and ASJ). Coming away with 2 of them would really be great value and improve the team.
maybe even Cooks or Beckham would slide a little and be options as well. I like those 2, but have some questions on their value at 18, and think Matthews is the better fit for this team..

Even if your theory is true (which i totally don't agree with), you are looking at position rather than player.
The first round has to be about the player.

I see Pryor as more of a hybrid safety than a topflight FS.
Dix could potentially be a topflight FS, but i just don't see his skillset as difficult to find as Dennard's is to find.
just my opinion. If the scouts and coaches were high on either Safety, and pulled the trigger, i wouldn't mind it. Afterall, they've had way more access than me to evaluate the player themselves, and how they could fit with what we are trying to do.
