Aside from Watkins, I just think that Cooks, Beckham, and Lee are the best 3 WRs for the Jets' offense, and I also like Mathews and Adams more than Robinson. Have you read the WR metrics articles on RotoWorld. If memory serves me correctly, Robinson didn't rate very highly in those. I think too many of his routes were screens and I want a WR with more speed than Robinson has.
If we could trade back 6 spots and still get either Cooks or Beckham, I'd be all for it, but there are no guarantees. Beckham could go to the Steelers or Ravens. Cooks could too, for that matter. It's too risky. If they are on the top of Idzik's board or are relatively equal in value to any DB or OT there, then I think they should go with the WR. Trading back up after trading down to add another WR is just silly. With the additional 3rd gained from trading down, the Jets could potentially add another quality starter or at least a very good depth/role player who would develop into a solid starter within a season or two. They don't need to draft two WRs that high. If they take a WR in round 1, they don't need to draft another until somewhere in the 4th-6th rounds.
What about trading back and getting say cooks at 24 and then with that 3rd and our 2nd trading to the end of the 1st to get fuller or verrett?
No. Why are you obsessed with trading multiple high picks in a deep draft and when the Jets have multiple holes/needs? Quality GMs don't need to trade up to find excellent prospects. The Jets have too many needs/holes to even consider trading up.
The only pick that we would be trading is the third rounder from us trading back ... We never had that pick in the first pick ... So in total we would still have 12 draft picks ... The same amount we started with ... Get a higher quality player in the end ... It's not trading multiple picks my man ... It's smart ... Not obssesed
Why trade back and gain a third round pick when you can pick the guy you think fits best in your offense?
I voted for cooks. I feel he has the talent on the field, in the workout room and in the study room. I feel like he's got "it".
There is a high probability none are there at 24. - Steelers - Ravens - Eagles 3 teams that could take all 3 before the 24th pick.
Ur right ... It's risky but two of those teams pick before us ... I'm talking bout 2 of them being there when we pick and worrying bout the teams behind us ... Idk it was just a thought ... It's kind of pointless to talk about considering its something idzik would probly never think about haha
All three present different advantages. It's not like you are going to the market and you have the chance to buy one of three bananas so you trade back in the line because the guys behind you only want oranges and blueberries. One will probably fit MM's offense better, and hopefully also have the better grade. Trading back and hoping that guy is still there is a stupid gamble.
Eh, Marqise Lee. 6'0" and plays like he's 5'10". I'm not sure his height advantage is much of an advantage.
Were there even any on the clock trades in the 1st or 2nd round last year? Seems maybe there weren't.
Not true. As a matter of fact, if taken in Rounds 1-2, they have an 84 % of making an immediate impact. http://grantland.com/features/how-tell-which-nfl-draft-picks-truly-valuable/
I am not from Bizarro world I like to call reality home ... And the reality is that Stephen Hill is basically the same age as these guys. Odds say 2 out of these 3 guys, if drafted in mid-late first round will be busts. So I'd rather the Jets give Hill his 3rd year ... Which I think he deserves ... And draft a need at another position unless Mike Evans falls then it's a no brainer. You probably missed it on another thread but Stephen Hill actually had one of the LOWEST drop rates in the NFL last year with those targeted more than 50 times at an astounding rate of 1.7. Much to the dismay of ignorant Jets fan belief that he has butter fingers. He posted an abysmal 10.6 his rookie year just above Tavon Austin at 10.4 last year ... With more opportunities. Jets fans have tunnel vision when it comes to Stephen Hill. His story In the NFL is not over yet give the kid another year Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
