Why don't you like him? The only thing he is lacking and not by much is high end speed. He can go up and get the ball, catches with his hands, makes great adjustments to catch the ball and is a physical receiver. Granted I would like Odell or Lee, but if the jets select Robinson I would not be upset one bit.
I'm not too high on Robinson either at least compared to other prospects in this wr class. He runs sloppy routes,is slow in & outbreaks & ive seen him drop some easy ones.Great upside due to his size/bidy control but there are better options
Sure these guys are good, but are any of them number 1 receivers? It's all about number 1 receivers, elite quarterbacks, and shutdown corners. Sarcasm aside, I want Beckham in the first, Matthews in the second, or Abbrederis in the third depending on how the board falls.
That 5'10 4.4 speed with that amazing route running, who in the NFL could possibly cover the great OBJ.
He's 5'11"+ and has great hands and body control. And seriously you're going to sniff at 4.4 speed? With excellent elusiveness that's good.
Brandt: Allen Robinson's draft stock on rise after big pro day Mike Huguenin College Football 24/7 writer SHARE In a draft that's deep on wide receivers, one receiver who often is overlooked is Penn State's Allen Robinson. Perhaps his pro day Tuesday will change that. One interested observer surely would have been Philadelphia Eagles coachChip Kelly, whose team is likely to draft a wide receiver or two this year. Robinson is seen by most analysts as a second-rounder, though he isn't expected to be around when the Eagles pick 22nd in the second round. His pro day might spark enough interest to put him in the discussion as a possible late first-rounder. The big question about Robinson (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) is his speed, but his 40 time at his pro day was a noticeable improvement over his 4.60 time at February's NFL Scouting Combine. Robinson's vertical jump was measured at 39 inches at the combine, when he also turned in a 10-foot, 7-inch broad jump. That he improved from good numbers in both categories Tuesday also had to intrigue scouts. Robinson led the Big Ten in receptions and receiving yardage in each of the past two seasons. He had 174 receptions and 2,445 receiving yards in that span under since-departed coach Bill O'Brien. With the Nittany Lions, Robinson proved to be effective as a deep threat and also on wide-receiver screens. According tocfbstats.com, he had 10 receptions of at least 40 yards in 2013, a figure that tied for the national lead with Utah's Dres Anderson and was two more than Oregon State's Brandin Cooks, Texas A&M'sMike Evans and Clemson's Sammy Watkins. Teams that own top-10 picks in the second round who could be interested in a receiver include Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland and Tampa Bay. I know how some of you guys feel about pro days, I put this up because I feel his consistency, work ethic and his improvement will carry into his NFL career and he will be gone before the second round.
We can forget about Odell being there at 18, check out following article. Jeremiah: Odell Beckham fits Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 15 pick Bryan Fischer College Football 24/7 writer SHARE Depth at the wide receiver position in the 2014 NFL Draft is becoming readily apparent with each passing week. Sure there are elite talents such as Sammy Watkins likely to come off the board within the first five picks, but what seems to make this a great receiver class is the quality of players expected to available in the later rounds. That said, there's still a good chance that some high-end talents at the position will go early in the draft as teams look to land some playmakers for today's pass-happy NFL. One of the teams certain to be in the market for a wideout is undoubtedly the Pittsburgh Steelers. While a number of folks think the team will look to shore up the secondary with their first-round draft pick, it's possible they'll opt to go a different direction when May rolls around. Coach Mike Tomlin and other Steelers personnel were recently at LSU's pro day to take in the workout of receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and eventook him out for dinner the night before. Could Beckham actually be in play for Pittsburgh with the 15th overall pick? "Absolutely," NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said on Friday's "Path to the Draft." "He's my third-rated wide receiver in this draft class behind Mike Evans and Sammy Watkins. (Beckham) is electric with the football in his hands. He gives you so much explosiveness. Plus, you have the added value of seeing what he can do in the return game. "I think he's a very exciting player." Recent NFL.com mock drafts don't have Beckham going quite that high in the draft, with just two analysts thinking he'll go as early as the 18th overall pick to the Jets. It wouldn't be a huge surprise, though, if the Steelers were to reach a little for someone like Beckham, who has risen quickly to become the third-best receiver in the draft in Jeremiah's eyes. Unless Evans were to somehow fall past theGiants with the 12th pick, Tomlin and company could wind up grabbing a receiver who brings plenty of speed to the table even if he's not the biggest in the draft, at 5-foot-11. "I know he doesn't have the size of a big receiver to replace Plexico Burress, but he's the best receiver likely to be on the board when they pick," Jeremiah said. "I think he'd be a great choice. "Don't get hung up on size," he said. "You have a big receiver, you have a small receiver -- don't worry about that. Get the best one, and in this case it would be Odell Beckham." We're sure Todd Haley would easily be able to find a role for Beckham if indeed that's the selection in the first round. In fact, we're pretty sure Ben Roethlisberger is already lobbying the team to grab the LSU speedster and think defense in the second round. Follow Bryan Fischer on Twitter@BryanDFischer.
bumping this as its still a very relevant question. curious to see if the voting changes at all as draft approaches. as of April 21st: Beckham 38% of vote Cooks 34% Lee 28%
I could see the Steelers taking Beckham at 15. They took a very similar receiver in Santonio Holmes at 16. They have no issues taking a complimentary receiver and fitting him into their offense as long as they think he can beat single coverage consistently.
We can draft this guy too... http://www.sportspickle.com/2014/04/video-nfl-draft-wr-prospect-takes-two-passes-face
I'm not a fan of Marquise Lee because of the high drop rate and the way he uses his hands when catching the ball. I'd be thrilled with Beckham or Cooks. I'd take either of those two well before Lee.
Imagine this scenario ... Can u imagine if all 3 wrs were still there at 18 ... Then we trade back say 6 spots to like 24 ... We pickup a 3rd rounder in the process. Still confident that at least 2 of the 3 would still be there at 24 ... Say we then draft cooks at 24 ... Then say lee is the only one out of the 3 left ... Say he falls to like 28-31 ... What if we flipped our second rounder and that 3rd rounder we got in the first trade to move to the very end of the first round ... If that's not enough throw in like a 5th or 6th to close the deal ... Then we pick lee. So we end up with cooks and lee ... Or OBJ and lee ... Or OBJ and cooks ... Can u imagine that! That would be awesome ... One can only hope right.
That would be one more high value receiver than we need..make that first or second pick a CB and then it would be awesome.
What bout Dennard at 24 and cooks late 1st? Sounds good to me ... Or OBJ at 24 and fuller or verrett late 1st
Written like someone from bizarro world. Honestly how can you say Hill, who now looks like he was a reach in round 2, is anywhere close to the potential any 3 of these guys have? Your "scouting" on Cooks is literally the opposite of what every other person says about him. Try again
It is interesting that the only visit Cooks has is with the Jets...what is the issue with him anyway or is it just that everybody already knows everything they need to know?
