It is just BS. The press doesn't even know CJ is in town, but they know Idzik's plans? Ho ho ho.

I'd lose it too...sounds like more pre-draft speculative BS to me.

if Barr falls to 18 he will be our pick 100% BUT no way we trade up for him.

If Barr fell to 18 he could be BPA, but he is fundamentally raw and his knocks are that of Vernon Gholston. He has excellent speed and athleticism, but he doesn't convert speed into power naturally. There is no way the Jets are trading up for him. I think there is a very small chance they trade up at all, but if the price is right and the right guy falls they could pull the trigger. Not for Barr though.

Who do you guys like better Demarcus Lawrence or Jeremiah attaochu? Both second round guys that could be interesting... Jets have a visit with Lawrence scheduled.

If they are CBs or Safeties great because it meets some reality needs (not linebackers). You could argue, of course, like I've said on some previous threads that with our FA pick ups Idzik has turned things around eg Patterson, Ford. Plus many returning DB's Wilson,Walls, Milliner, Allen are expected to have much better years. We need to draft but I would rate FA much improved (B plus A minus) Just a thought..........

You can't count on Patterson to even see the field with his history.

It seems like there's a decent chance Barr ends up there at 18, but I still don't think you can take him given the holes at WR, CB, and TE. If Idzik had adequately filled two of those holes in FA, then you can go BPA, but there's too many question marks elsewhere to justify going OLB.

In the past this post would be the hallmark of the conversation. It'd all be about who the Jets need to plug a specific hole, how they should or shouldn't trade up to get the latest savior. I'm very happy that yours is the only post of this ilk.

Everyone else recognizes that those are now the ways of the past. The conversation is about who is BPA at each given point, NOT which holes are to be plugged.

Get alone with the program, will you? The new management is all about BPA and it worked well so far.

I would be upset if Barr is our first round pick. The guy din't make plays and why did we bring Pace back and move Coples if we take Barr. Makes zero sense.

Like CJ, he is also out "to prove his critics wrong" but you are prob right. I am as confused as the next person who will be our starters this year. It does seem clear that Idzik spent cheaply on FA so to have as much competition between pricey rookies, vets and free agents.

Idzik didn't spend cheaply in free agency. He committed the Jets to about $33M in guarantees in free agency as he signed Eric Decker, Calvin Johnson, Michael Vick, Brent Giacomini, Calvin Pace, Dimitri Patterson and Willie Colon to deals. The Giants spent about $25M guaranteed to bring their free agents on board for next year.

Idzik claims to be BPA at all times which would mean you take him if he is BPA...

Thank you for that update. His perception was all bargain but I was wondering on some other post if anyone had done the math yet on what the total was. So if there is say 129 million for all signings that leaves the Jets with $96 million for the draft or unsigned players. Any guess how that gets spent?

If I read overthecap right the Jets currently have about $112 million counting towards this year's cap, including $12M in dead money. They have about $22M available at this point for 2014. No idea how they plan to spend that other than the money set aside for rookies.

The only 1st rounder worth trading up for is Sammy Watkins.

    I think I would trade a 1st , 3rd and 4th for him.

Agreed, though it would depend on who else is there at 18.

This draft is so deep that we may want to consider trading down to the end of the 1st or even out of the 1st completely if it meant getting multiple 2nd, 3rd in addition to a 1st next year. Multiple day 2 picks may be more valuable than 1 pick at the bottom half of the first round.
