Muerte at 87. Author of perhaps the greatest story ever written, 100 Years of Solitude. Has any book ever started with a better first sentence: "Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendia was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice."
Don't read much, which is sad. When you read you get to take excursions into another person's mind and see more of the inner workings of the human soul. Marques was particularly good at conducting those tours.
No sweat, I'm not related to him or anything. You might want to start with his short stories to get a flavor, that's a long book. This is a pretty good one: http://salvoblue.homestead.com/wings.html enjoy.
RIP. As a half Colombian I am very proud of this literary genius from the same country as my dad. Yes Maximus ... 100 Years of Solitude. One of the best ever. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I have had 100 Years on my night stand for a while now but I just haven't had the desire to start it. Maybe this summer. Finally read East of Eden last summer (after that had sat on my nightstand for a while) and I was pleasantly surprised at what an outstanding read it was. Brilliant. _
