It's really 8 million, the other 1 million depends on yardage. We will find out how many yards it depends on, and it could either be likely we will pay it or very unlikely. I said 7.5 but I'm fine with 8. As long as the yardage isn't a joke to achieve, I'm fine with 9.

Hm. You don't think Cb is an issue at this point?

There's still talk the Jets might sign another wideout vet, at least here and there. If they do, that would make it even more likely they go Cb with the first or second pick.

The point is not whether that is objectively too much, since it seems a very fair deal to me. The point is some here were suggesting the Jets should sign him for @$3.5mil a year.

Jets/Chris Johnson agree to deal. Nice to see part of it, with Joel Segal taking Idzik call (outside) while speaking to class ystday.

This dude really is a ninja

Yeah... That is a pretty obviously bad read on the situation.

Good signing. Over 1400 yards from scrimmage every season he's been in the NFL (6 of them.)

That draft strategy is tempting, but don't rule out a team that has a guard they love fall to them in the draft and decide to take advantage by releasing an overpaid journeyman G who they think might give them some wiggle room under the cap to fill another need.

I'm not saying that the Jets will find Mr. Right after June 1, just that they might find a good enough stopgap to delay LG until FA 2015.

we must address OLine early on in the draft. I would consider Su'a Filo in the first.

As I said there are too many holes to fill all of them this year and while I do think that CJ provides a big dynamic threat to the offense that was missing before RB wasn't truly a need and I'm more optimistic than most maybe including Rex and the FO that Walls wouldn't be a disaster and might even be better than that as a one year starter with a chance to prove his worth beyond that. Just given the needs and the draft I'd rather take a chance on him and use resources on full solutions elsewhere rather than invest in someone who might not be significantly better year one even if they ultimately pan out as a player. Then if Walls flops do your best with FA scraps to patch together a workable CB2 and nickel unit this year and truly address it when the situation is clearer and we can better afford to address it next year if necessary.

Shocks, I guess he could tackle him after a 50 yard gain on a screen pass.

I'd just hate to see the D give up as many more points as the O gets in increased production. In any event i do not predict us seeing Walls start.

And 3.5 is also what I remember from several here..finding it though is more work that I care to be bothered with but I can guarantee if he signed somewhere else for this deal half the Idzik fans would say that team overpaid and Idzik did the right thing.

advocating that $3.5 is fair and realistic is not the same as saying that $4 million is too much. I don't believe anyone advocating a best case scenario of $3.5 million ever said that $4 million was too much to spend on him. $4 million was right where anyone was arguing should be fair.

8 mil for a 1600 yards per year guy sounds fair to me.
