This signing echoes the Curtis Martin acquisition, in some ways. High-end running back who appeared to be slowing-down. Worn out his welcome with his drafting team. Change of scenery. Not saying his signing will be as important or Johnson will have as big an impact. But its certainly possible Johnson is revitalized in NY.

that sack of shit is trying to claim it was a "reverse jinx" by saying we werent interested. also he had one of his dummy accounts, @teammoneypicks, tweet out that they agreed last night right after they showed CJ at the knicks game. what a tool

First of all, this is not a major signing. It's a one or two year solution at one of the positions the Jets have a lot of question marks at going into next year.

Secondly, it's most likely not a huge signing. It's not like the deal for DeSean Jackson would have been. That's true even if the Jets met CJ's $5M a year asking price. It's dramatically lower than any of the CB deals would have been and CJ is going to touch the ball and be directly involved in the play more than twice as often as any of those CB's would have been.

My position is completely consistent. I didn't want the Jets to blow their cap on veteran players when they had so many young guys in the chute waiting to get paid. I really didn't want them to spend a lot on edge positions when the draft is full of those guys and they really need to get stronger up the middle.

I'm happy with the signing. It's going to help the Jets next year without having much, if any, impact on their ability to sign their young players over the next couple of seasons.

It remains to be seen why this happened, but yes I thought Johnson would be reluctant to come here because I thought he would want to be the featured back. Perhaps they told him he would be, which I would find surprising since you can count me as a big Ivory fan. Is Johnson the better back at this point? I guess he can be perceived to be the better prospect to stay healthy, which has always concerned me about Ivory. But I am not so sure Johnson is more productive, except at pass catching.

Another possbility is that Johnson merely decided he had no takers who would offer him a clear role as the featured back.

I have no fear of admiting when I am wrong.

I really hope Winters or Campbell steps up or we draft a solid interior guy. That'll help out Mangold and D'Brick and then CJ2K

Curtis came here after only 3 seasons in NE. he was just entering his prime, and we gave up a high draft pick to get em. The vast majority of his great career was with the NYJ. totally different scenario.
With Johnson, I'd be happy to get 2 solid seasons..

I wasn't really referring to you lol

You make very insightful posts that have knowledge written all over them. Whether I agree or not, is one thing, but you make posts that give meaning to your claims.

I was referring to this same group of posters that go into every thread preaching the same bullshit with no fact based opinion. Just spewing bullshit to make a comment.

I agree. Martin played for 11 years and was good that long too. Johnson is entering his 7th and people would like you to believe he is washed up. If he is healthy I would think he has at least 3 good years left and maybe more especially where he is sharing the load.

Signing CJ gives us a pretty good running back duo with Ivory. He adds speed, and pass catching ability coming out of the backfield, both things we needed. I like it, things seem to be going in the right direction so far.
