Oh I guess he doesn't have a track record of fucking up? Just look at Cro,DRC,Revis,Jackson. What I mean 3 of those 4 he didn't even reach out to.
I merely noted that MoWilk said what he broadly referred to as blind Idzik haters were condemning Idzik without knowing what was offered Johnson. Those concerned about Idzik are basing their concern on a lot more than that.
I fully understand not being a fan of Idzik's methodology. But it is very unfair to criticize Idzik for his handling of this CJ2K situation. All we know is both sides felt the meeting went well and CJ2K is going to think over the decision. Considering there are some other teams interested it was probably pretty unlikely we would have gotten him yesterday unless we overpaid.
Haha, merely noting. Precious. Maybe you should check out the wording of your post before you play the innocent victim who has done no wrong. "The context is how he has "managed" the off season so far. And that is not something those concerned about Idzik are blind to. More it is the FO Homers here who refuse to acknowledge that there should be big questions at this point." Sounds like you're doing a lot more than "merely noting". Sounds like your pushing your opinion as fact to me and probably plenty others. If people aren't questioning Idzik like you are because, you know, your opinion is fact... then that must make them homers! If they aren't questioning a guy who has stuck true to a plan that has worked for championship teams, they must be just blind optimists. Give me a break. I don't even know what point you're trying to prove here. You're telling me that my opinion is wrong because "blah blah blah" while not realizing I could say the exact same to you. Just nevermind. You've already proven your beyond comprehension on this issue. Idzik sucks, he's gonna blow it, he's blown it like 5 times so far, facts are facts.
I'm not sure why Idzik is a failure in this scenario...CJ's people received an offer which establishes CJ's market value and they are going to see if they can field interest from other teams in an effort to get a better deal. This is standard due diligence. It does not appear (based on ProFootballTalk rumors) there are any other team involved at this point, so I imagine, since workouts start on Monday, CJ will be in a uniform before then. Edit: Also, I stick with my contract prediction 3 years, 10 million, 5 guaranteed...with incentives to make the contract worth 12 million over 3 years.
I agree as I said that to criticize Idzik SOLELY for failure to sign Johnson at this point would be unfair. But it is the PATTERN of Idzik's management of the off season so far, which a failure to sign Johnson would be seen as part of, that is the basis of the concern. In life those who try to not leave the last nickel on the table rarely do deals they really should have done. You have to reach agreement with other people. If Johnson signs somewhere else, I guarantee you the FO Homers here will loudly proclaim that the team that signed him overpaid, no matter what he signs for.
I base it on his track record. How many would be pissed if he went on and sign somewhere else for 2 years 9 million?
All I said was Idzik's critics are viewing him from a perspective of his overall management of the off sesason. There is not a single person here who suddenly has become an Idzik critic solely because of Johnson.
But you're NOT "just saying" at all. Look at the part of your post I quoted. You are flat out saying anyone who doesn't question Idzik is a homer. That's not "merely noting" and that's not "all you said".
Ok maybe I'm jumping the gun on Idzik on CJ. I just look at his track record and think CJ won't be signed by Jets.
