They had that number two weeks ago when the Jets came close to trading for him...there had to be more than that to get him up here.

Peyton made everyone, he has had the worst collection of talent of any QB. the man is simply the greatest ever and it's not close. Who else could win w/ such scrubs as marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon, the Thomas non brothers in den, Eric Decker, etc.... just amazing!

Maybe. But the guy got a lot of TDs with Orton and Tebow throwing him the ball too. I think that says a lot. I'm not convinced he's going to be great here, but there's potential. I'm not his biggest fan, but it's hard to argue that he got a top WR in FA (if not THE top WR in FA).

Personally, I have a bigger issue with Vick. I think that's a lot of money for a backup QB, one that's as polarizing as Vick. And while I will admit a lot of my issues with Vick are related to his past behavior, I also don't think he's a good football player. He's always rested on his talent, so he's not a great mentor for Geno as far as I'm concerned. And other than one magical 12 game stretch, he's been a turnover-prone QB who never scratched the surface of what he really could have been. At his current age, I think that opportunity has passed him by.

But with that said, you can make the argument that he got the best WR and the best QB in FA, and now is angling for the best RB in FA on a team that has been devoid of talent on the offensive side of the ball for a lengthy period of time. Did he miss out on DRC? Sure, but that doesn't bother me. Maybe he missed on some other players as well. We don't and won't know.

We still have a draft with 12 picks, and there are some good finds to be had in this group of prospects. Never build a team off of free agency, but supplement, and I think we've done a great job with that so far, and I would LOVE for us to get Chris Johnson, despite the question marks.

Never happens in today's NFL. Less than 20 passes, my big toe. You cannot have a plan like that. Tell me they have a plan to throw shorter safer passes, I can buy it. But a number like less than 20? Poppycock.

Decker's last two years look just like his best year in college. He's real. Players tend to establish a peak performance level in college and then either get there in the pros or not. When I see a guy's best season in college and it looks just like his established level in the pros that's very convincing evidence that he's that caliber of player.

Peyton Manning is a great QB. He's older now and his arm isn't as good. One way of looking at the year he had last year is that he had 3 #1 capable receivers playing at the same time. DThomas was the best of them but that doesn't mean that Decker and Welker weren't a major handful for the guys trying to cover them.

Two weeks ago or two months ago it doesn't matter, the initial number likely got the visit. He didn't visit immediately because they Jets were about to leave town for the LSU pro day. So he took care of personal business in Fla and then flew up to Jersey to check out the area until they got back. If they had a deal agreed on he'd be signed already.

With all due respect...what the f*ck does this thread have to do with Decker?

I came into here to check out CJ2k Updates and opinions not read a f*cking debate about the Eric Decker signing.

    Unbelievable.

Hate is quite the motivator. When you dislike somebody and have an agenda against them, you're more likely to bring it up in any place you can possibly think. Just like Sanchez last year where even threads about the defensive became about Sanchez.

Oh and according to Incarcerated Bob the deal is being finalized as we speak, just like Nmandi, DRC, etc etc. JK.

I came in here to read about the Jets and all I get is a Jets fan complaining about something. Unusual.

Anything that pushes back against the wall of BS the media have been putting out there about the Jets makes me feel good. I have less respect for the professionals who write about the Jets than at any point since I became a Jets fan. I was 16 in 1977 so I just didn't read the wave of crap that came out of that situation. I'm guessing it was pretty similar to this wave however that team had been really bad for 5 years and maybe deserved some of the bad press.

Actually his rate of TD's was far far higher with Orton than with Tebow. Look it up. I merely add this because I feel you are implying that Decker scored oodles of TD's with a crap Qb like Tebow. That is not true.

Despite the Tebowmaniacs, and is conceded talent at running the ball, Orton was a far better Qb than Tebow.

And it may not be a popular opinion for some around here, but Orton was a significantly better Qb than Smith. He still is.

Orton shined from McDaniels system in Denver. Once he got out of it, he was a mediocre QB. He had 1 start last year for Dallas and was not bad until a final pick sealed the Cowboys fate. I take Geno over Orton anyday of the week based solely on potential and upside alone.
