I think i will be pretty annoyed if we spend another first rounder on a corner back this year...I know Gilbert is a good talent and right now alot of drafts are projecting we take a corner or a slot speedy receiver...WTF Thats another issue...What I would like to know is how would you feel about us drafting another corner in round 1? Will you be upset? Do you want another corner?
The only corner that will be the BPA will be Justin Gilbert. A better player will be available than Dennard at #18.
Gilbert is a much better talent, especially the added bonus of his return skills. I like Dennard, but his physical game creates too many penalities and that isn't going to work in the NFL. I follow the Big Ten as close as anyone and trust me Dennard is a penalty machine, he needs to get that out of his system.
very very very pissed if they take ANOTHER cb in round 1..... i could maybe live with gilbert but anyone else will cost me at least 1 electronic device that night.
If Gilbert falls to #18, unlikely, he will be the BPA. I doubt we go CB in Rd 1, if we draft Roby I'll beyond pissed off.
CB is a big need. There are a couple damn good CB's that should be available around our pick. If a CB is the BPA when we're selecting, its tough to get mad about it.
I would, yes. the only corner I like in the first round is Dennard and even him I'm not sure about. I'd rather just take some kind of offense whether it be a WR, TE or OL.
I have a feeling the Jets will not take a WR in round 1, and this board will uproar.. I would love OBJ at 18, am tepid on Cooks at 18, and don't want Lee at 18. All that said, there is a high probability there will be a better player available than any of them, whether that be a CB or other position not on the popular radar.. I'm totally fine with that.
I would, yeah. Failing to address it in free agency, spending another first round pick on CB. If they use a 3rd rounder or something I wouldn't really care but our first would piss me off.
I agree. I don't want a CB in round 1, but if Gilbert is there, I guess they have to take him, and I could live with Gilbert. Actually, I'd be very excited to have a CB with the ball skills and athleticism he has, but would be equally disappointed that we weren't going to get one of Cooks, Beckham or Lee. If they took Dennard or Fuller, I wouldn't be happy at all, but guess I could live with it if they turned out to be solid starters, but I would be extremely upset if they took Roby or any other CB at #18.
Acording to the way I consistently mock picks 1-17, the guys available look something like Odell Beckham Jr, Marqise Lee, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin, Kony Ealy, Dee Ford, Louis Nix III, Ra'Shede Hageman, Timmy Jernigan, Stephon Tuitt, Zach Martin, Xavier Su'a-Filo, CJ Mosley, Ryan Shazier, Derek Carr, Jace Amaro, Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Kyle Fuller, Jason Verrett, Bradley Roby. I don't look at any of those guys as the obvious choice at 18. If Darqueze Dennard or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix were available, they to me are obvious choices. With who is listed as available, Odell Beckham is my choice. There are a number of guys who would muddy up that choice in my mind if they were available. They include: Calvin Pryor, Taylor Lewan, Eric Ebron, Justin Gilbert, and Anthony Barr. It is difficult for me to rank these players vs each other as they all have very different positions. I think I'd go Lewan, Pryor, Barr, Ebron, Gilbert. So basically IMO, these are my BPA players should they fall to 18. 1. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix FS 2. Darqueze Dennard CB 3. Taylor Lewan OT 4. Odell Beckham Jr WR 5. Calvin Pryor S 6. Anthony Barr OLB 7. Eric Ebron TE 8. Justin Gilbert CB It's not an easy list to make but this is what I think. It is theoretically possible none of those players are available. Should that be the case, the player most likely to fall to 18 would be one of the top QBs. If that happens it kind of sucks for us, but who knows. If a QB fell we could try and trade back with Cincy or Cleveland (if they don't take one at 4th overall). If there are no takers, Marqise Lee is a legitimate choice, or Brandin Cooks (I'm not high on him as a player that will fit well with our physical playing style though). The following players listed I have a hard time seeing dropping from the top 10, but I could be wrong. Jadeveon Clowney DE Khalil Mack OLB Greg Robinson OT Jake Matthews OT Teddy Bridgewater QB Johnny Manziel QB Blake Bortles QB Sammy Watkins WR Mike Evans WR
I remember thinking there was no way they take a defensive lineman 3 years in a row and they did so nothing would really shock me. I would be a little surprised if they went defense in general though since the offense has been inept for years now. If they did go D, I bet the media would say it's because Rex is running the show. Edit: I thought the topic was if you would be surprised instead of upset for some reason. If they went CB I would be pretty pissed even if it was Gilbert/Dennard. I would be even more pissed if somehow some top offensive talent slid to 18 and they still went CB.
BPA at 18 will be determined by the # of teams taking QBs ahead of us in the 1st. The more QBs who get drafted ahead of us will push some very good players down. Kinda like 2011 when 4 QBs (surprisingly) went in the top 12, which pushed Mo Wilk to our pick at 30. Let's hope for a repeat this year.
