I said it before and I'll say it again: signing Chris Johnson would be huge. He will provide another playmaker on the offense, he will provide the fear in defenses we need with his break away speed, and he is a threat on passing downs. Him paired with Ivory will be absolutely awesome. That will bring us back to our hay day pounding the rock. Our offense could get really fun with Vick starting, Decker at receiver, and Ivory and Johnson in the backfield.

Add Beckham, Cooks or Ebron... yeah I can see that making for a fun offense.

Haven't gotten to the draft yet so I was just inputting on the guys we have or are in the process of getting. But yeah, drafting more guys like that would really be kick ass

We agree on that, there is no way in the world the Jets need a 4th RB especially one costing 5M a year who is a carbon copy (only better) of one they already have. Goodsen is gone.

I don't know about Johnson's ability at this point or if he can be the lead back but we have so much money remaining that a 1-2 year deal is fine for this guy. He'll get the Titans this year at Ten so that outta be a fun reunion and one Johnson will get up for in particular.

I think Johnson's agent approached Idzik yesterday and wanted to take what Idzik's deal was or to just really get a deal done after seeing the depleted market for Johnson after waiting a week.

Getting Johnson signed is big just for the reason we don't have to spend a pick somewhere on a speedy back. Draft picks need to go to 2 CB/2 WR/TE/OG /OT/FS/SS/P/ILB/OLB(In no order)...maybe we trade up somewhere.

he's not going to carry the load, he will be a perfect compliment for Ivory. Imagine Ivory pounding Ds then CJ coming in w/ his speed and elusiveness plus he will be a factor in the pass game which will be a huge help for a young QB.

You can even line CJ up in the slot. No reason both he and Ivory can't be on the field at the same time in certain sets. I actually think that would be a great look. With CJ's speed (yes, he's still fast), Decker's ability and Ivory's style, you can't really double anyone. That's not including whatever TE or 3rd/4th receiver we have on the field.

Hopefully he's on board with that mindset.

I still think Johnson will be the starting back but won't be getting as many carries as he used to. I do think Johnson will get the most carries of the 3 for our games though unless he's hurt or just ineffective for a game while Ivory/Powell are clicking.

Johnson does not have great hands....but he is deadly past the LOS if he gets the ball in his hands. That should be a nice asset to have.

Now throw in a drafted TE and/or WR and now we have top half of the league weapons on O from probably bottom 5 if not the worst the last 2 years.

One thing for sure, with the level of talent we could have this season, we'll know quickly if Geno will be our QB next season.

Oh and Powell is going to be needed here because of Ivory's problems with durability. Powell will still play a big role for our upcoming season, he's also loved by our RBs coach. I think of our RBs with Johnson, Powell provides the best protection.

I'd love for Ivory to have a healthy season but he runs like a mad man. If Ivory gets hurt, more carries for Johnson.

Goodson coming off an ACL may not have the speed he used to and if he doesn't have that......

Chris Johnson was a logical choice to complement our top 2 RB's especially considering the issues surrounding Goodson. Johnson has a very similar skill set, and signing him takes quite a bit of pressure off the need for an explosive playmaker in round 1. If we draft 1 great, but if BPA is defense this makes them more comfortable in going that route. Ivory and Johnson will have the chance to be a very dynamic backfield, and will take pressure off a young QB. it Also makes sense that we might like a bigger WR with blocking ability, and that we might target Fiedorowicz (a good blocking TE). I really don't see a player like Cooks as the most beneficial player to add to the offense despite how fast he might be.

What would they get in return? You can get easily get a 6th round rookie RB who can be comparable to Powell.
