That's not necessarily true. The Jets hosted a physical for DRC also. Physicals are always hosted just to determine the health of the player. Not necessarily a deal in place
Why would a player want to go through that unless a deal was predicated on passing it? Anything bad that came out of it could leak out to other teams and put them at a huge disadvantage. I am guessing they have a deal.

It happens every single year. Free agents get physicals done for multiple teams without signing a deal. I understand where you are coming from, but it happens. Players give physicals to show their level of health and skill and then work on a deal. If one doesn't match, they move on to the next team, and so on. That's the nature of the NFL free agency period.

Its basically the same thing as these college athletes. It has been done forever. They work out for many teams when only one will draft them. It's a little different with the pro's, obviously, but is the same concept. The Jets are looking to pour millions into Chris Johnson. You bet your ass they will give a physical. But in the end, Chris Johnson may not like that deal and will move on to another team and do the same.
Its protocol before making an offer. We did the same thing with DRC before he went and visited with the Giants.
Oh I can definitely see them making him take the physical, just not before they have a deal much the same as MLB does it. They say ok we will give you this based on passing the physical.
