I found the following ranking of WR prospects at SB Nation. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-dr...e-receiver-rankings-sammy-watkins-marqise-lee Personally, I think they're nuts having Benjamin and Robinson rated over Cooks and Landry, and Moncrief and Coleman over Adams, then Ellington and Campanaro rated so low. Having Beckham rated #4 is also wacky. I like Beckham a lot, but there's no way he's 4 slots better than Cooks imo 1. Sammy Watkins | 6'1, 200 pounds | Wide receiver | Clemson * 2. I agree with all your disagreements. I have a feeling whoever did those rankings hasn't watched all those players. There's no way Devin Street is only the 25th-best WR in the draft. Also, I think Josh Stewart is a better version of Jalen Saunders, and has a body that can take more of a beating. Not sure why they're separated by so much.
Brandon Coleman 11th? Wow - this list tells me they are looking for upside and purely upside at the next level.
Thanks, and yes, I forgot about Devin Street. There's no way he should be ranked that low. If Saunders weighed 30 pounds more, I could totally understand his ranking and he might even be a good bit higher, but there's no way he's gonna hold up in the NFL. If anything, he'll be a PR and gadget player, and even then may never be able to stay healthy. I think both Richardson and Saunders have almost zero chance of making any kind of impact in the NFL. They were very nice collegiate players, but are just to small to hold up in the NFL. I have some worries with Cooks in that regard, but he's tough, so elusive, and is a very hard worker, so I would expect him to put on more muscle and add another 5-10 pounds over the next year or two.
Gil Brandt@Gil_Brandt Kelvin Benjamin 30th in my new rankings. Was told KB recently blew off workout w NFL coach who had made special trip, said he was too tired 3:37pm · 10 Apr 14 · web
todd mcshay just put cody latimer in the 1st round of his mock draft today "but no dom, you're so blind. cody latimer is a day 3 prospect" suck it
My opinion is 3rd day guy. My opinion is often very different than most of the people on TV. I always encourage people to form their own opinions.
His tape from 2 seasons ago was good but he has too many question marks for me. THIS year his tape showed a banged up player that was average at best. 1. His hand technique is poor. 2. His injuries in a draft year were prone. 3. His speed isn't elite. 4. His frame is questionable at the NFL level. 5. His intangibles are not impressive.
Bucky Brooks (NFL.com) on Beckham: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap2...est-nfl-fits-include-jets-eagles-and-panthers
FWIW, CBS is now rating Martavis Bryant ahead of Kelvin Benjamin. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2014/WR
That site is really weird this year. They're way high on the QB's and that pushes everybody down. For awhile I thought they were projecting where people would be drafted instead of talent levels.
I think they're doing a pretty good job, just taking longer to get there. A lot of the guys I thought were vastly underrated have been moving up all offseason leading up to the draft (Preston Brown, Martavis Bryant, Corey Linsley, Jeremiah Attaochu, Taylor Hart, Chandler Jones, Timmy Jernigan, Terrence Brooks, Dion Bailey, Terrance West, Devonta Freeman, Dezmen Southward) and a number of the guys I think were way overrated have been falling a ton (Yawin Smallwood, Brett Smith, David Yankey, Ryan Groy, Jeff Mathews, Ka'Deem Carey, Kelvin Benjamin, Brandon Coleman). Still waiting for Borland, Robinson, and Moncrief to drop, lol.
Allen Robinson isn't going to drop much. Leading receiver and most yards receiving in the Big Ten back-to-back years as a sophomore and a junior. He's 6'2" 220. He's just not going to drop that much from late 1st/early 2nd at this point.
