No reason to trade Wilson at all, what would we even get for him?a 4th rounder at best more likely a 5 the rounder
Awesome find. Always loved Kyle Wilson. Never understood the constant hate on here. Even though these trade talks are complete bullshit and non existent from a factual standpoint, if we do trade him, that would be a big step in the wrong direction.
The reason Wilson gets little respect is because you expect to get more out of your first round draft pick than a part time player.
He doesn't have much value ... yet there is no reason to trade him because he is a decent corner??? If he is a decent corner (which he is more than just decent) then he has trade value. He is actually one of the best Nickle corners in the league. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/04/10/sig-stats-slot-cornerbacks/ (I just realized the rankings had already been linked ... sorry double posting the info)
If we traded him we would lose nothing... Guy sucks.. If he was a 4th rounder and has played the way he has then that's fine.. This guy was considered one of the best Corners in college... Give me a break.. Dude is a bust if I ever saw one.
numbers as a Nickel corner... You don't draft a guy in the 1st round to play Nickel... Guy is a failure and has not lived up to his expectation... Milliner is a better corner than him at this point.
Saying he is not a first round talent is one thing, but you can not sit here and say he is terrible and losing him would be no problem. If you believe that, you are clueless. The numbers don't lie. He has been a HUGE factor in helping this secondary, which the numbers display. I don't give a shit if he has not panned out as a first round talent, he has panned out as a perfect nickel corner in Rex's system.
Keep in mind we will likely get a comp pick for him in 2016 once he signs somewhere else in 2015. If its a 6th round comp pick at least there is some value there. A slot corner who can fill in as the number 2 has some value. But there is a reason we signed a nickel corner in Patterson and it likely means the end of Wilson at some point.
If we can get a 4th for him from some desperate team, then I would do it in a heartbeat... If we could only get a 7th, mind as well keep him around as he is serviceable in the Nickel.
That is great that he is a great nickel corner... That's not what he came here for though.. 4th round and later is Nickel corner finding rounds... 1st round is number 1 corner for the next 10 years round. If we can only get a 7th for him, then I would want to keep him... 4th and he is gone.
I know they are very important... But in terms of Kyle Wilson, he wasn't drafted to play Nickel... He is a bust because the expectation was that he would be a #1... That is great that he found a position he could play, but at the end of the day, that is not the position we drafted him to play.
