Yep, and I've seen several people say that Gettelman is likely to go OT in the 1st round rather than WR. The problem is that the top 4 OT prospects could very well be gone by that point as they were in this draft. Martin could still be there, but if not, it's too early for the Moses kid from UVA, so I think they'd have to go WR or maybe CB if one of the CBs is still there. Matthews might be a bit of a reach at #28, but not that much of a reach, and they are desperate at WR. At present their WRs are Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Avant, Tiquan Underwood, and a bunch of unknowns - Brenton Bersin, Toney Clemons, Tavarres King, Marvin McNutt, and R.J. Webb.

Moses is a pretty good prospect. He's got the potential to protect a QB's blindside for the next 10 yrs. For teams drafting elite prospects in the first round, someone could easily grip up one of the best future tackles in the league in the 2nd round.

I'm skeptical of UVA OTs. Brick has never been what he was hyped to be, neither has Albert

Brick is a 10 yr starter at left tackle. He's been struggling a little bit with our LG lately, but at his best he's locked down the league's best pass rushers.

We are fortunate to have a reliable left tackle. A durable one at that.

Albert is still a premier tackle in this league.

I disagree. I don't think either has ever lived up to their hype coming out of college. Don't get me wrong, they've been solid players, good players, but both were hyped up to be great players, and I don't think either has. Maybe Albert has, but if so, why is he now on his 3rd team, I think. I know Brick hasn't been a great LT.

    Pete Kendall
    Adrien Clarke
    Alan Faneca
    Matt Slauson
    Vladimir Ducasse
    Brian Winters

8 years and 6 LG's and nobody for more than 2 years in a row. D'Brick's been on an island his entire career. The two years he looked really good were the years when he had a veteran LG next to him and the team was pounding the ball over the right side a lot.

I'm not saying he's a great LT because clearly he's been an average guy but if Winters is not at LG this year it'll be the magical 7th LG he's played next to in his career.

Yes, I don't deny that he hasn't had quality OGs next to him, and I'm certain that has affected his play some, but he just isn't a very good run blocker, and in his one-on-one battles with pass rushers, has been beaten more than I would have liked.

Albert has been good the last 2 or so years. Eugene Monroe on the other hand.....he was a so-so OT getting paid way too much than he deserves by Baltimore(Well same with Albert but Albert is the better tackle)

Yeah, thanks, I forgot about Monroe. Yet another overrated UVA OT.

Brick has been above average. I think you sign up for that, sorry if he isn't Walter Jones. LTs like that don't come around often.

I agree. My initial point was that the UVA OTs have been overhyped. They're decent, average or above average OTs, but not great ones, yet until Moses, have been hyped like they were Walter Jones level. That's all I'm saying.

WW just beat me to the giants pick and I actually flipped a coin between Borland and Jenkins. Came up Borland but since he slithered in the pick seconds before mine, I used Borland for the rams.

Hah I was waiting almost all day for someone to make the Dallas pick so I can take Verrett to the Ravens since he'd be such a slam dunk for the Jets in round 2....didn't happen lol.

    Pretty happy with that value.

Mettenberger to the Bears to sit behind Cutler and learn for a season or two, a la Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. He's tall and strong-armed and ideal for home games in Chicago. Marc Trestman clearly is not sold on Cutler and will be looking to get his guy in as soon as possible to learn his offense. Mettenberger is not ready to go right away but he's the best set of physical tools in the draft and Trestman takes him to mold him and light a fire under Cutler.

Cutler just signed a big deal though not too long ago. He's stuck there for good, based off contract alone.

(Ah ok it was a 3 year guaranteed deal with 3-4 more years of flexibility for Chicago, thought it'd be a bit more lengthy)

The team picking after Chicago, Arizona on the other hand makes great sense given Palmer's age and ineffectiveness....

The deal lets the Bears get rid of him as early as 2016. Mettenberbger comes in and sits and fully recovers from his surgery next year. Then in 2015 he's in a competition with Cutler and in 2016 he takes over.

The reason the Bears jump on Mettenberger at 51 is that as you say he makes a lot of sense to the Cardinals at 52.

Trestman inherited Cutler from the last regime. He isn't going to give him up until he has a good replacement but my guess is that he's always going to be looking for the replacement. He's a QB guru. Those guys want their own guy to mold.

Note that Cutler's 2016 guarantee doesn't kick in until the 3rd day of the 2015 league year. The Bears could cut him next season with a big dead money hit but no additional effect on the cap due to Cutler's large salary and roster bonus for the year. The only thing preventing them from doing that is the need for a cost-effective QB for 2015, like the 51st pick in the 2014 draft if he's ready to go.

I noticed, it took forever for someone to submit the Cowboys pick, so I did. Lucky, because I would not have mocked a CB to the Jets in the 2nd round

Trying to figure out what Jerry Jones is going to do is hard. I spent about 5 minutes on it and just decided it was somebody else's headache. :)
