that's because unlike fans who get excited because of player's name and remember how great he was in the past, most teams are aware of the brick wall RB's hit and that the position has a pretty immediate decline that you don't see coming.

maybe those teams will be wrong and Johnson is still valuable. but the reality is that the running back position is not valued that highly, especially for backs at his age. it just isn't worth the risk of a heavy investment.

Goodson may be playing for the Sing Sing Jets of the Prison Association League rather than the New York Jets of the NFL next year. His trial is scheduled for May - he was offered and turned down a deal with a 3 year sentence total - 1 year in jail and 2 years on probation. He may be acquitted or he may be convicted, but the fact that the prosecutors offered a deal with one year of jail time for a first time offender suggests to me that they think they have a good case against Goodson.

Neither Ivory nor Powell is a good pass receiving/3rd down back. Powell is OK, but not really good. MM's philosophy of stretching the field works best when you have a good pass receiving back that you drop the ball off to underneath. Also, MM likes to run screen pays and for those to be most effective you also need a good pass receiving back. CJ has been a very good pass receiving back and, if health, would make the jets offense significantly better.

I haven't heard anything of the sort. It's been a while but I thought I recalled that the passenger in the car was the owner of the guns, and planned to admit it. The other stuff won't land him jail time, although passing out while driving in the middle of route 80 while hammered and vomiting is pretty damn bad.

And again, my main point is that we need backup depth, not a #1 RB to replace him, even if that does happen. We just need a speed guy that can catch out of the backfield. We don't need to break the bank on someone like Johnson. Maybe the price will be right, but I'd rather use that money to pay Mo Wilks.

Goodson has never done anything in his career to get the type of faith he has been getting on this board. add the ACL and legal stuff and he is as good as gone, he's probably only on the roster in the worst case scenario that the Jets don't have a speed rb to replace him in the fall after the cj thing, the draft and the rest of fa

In other words, no team has contacted him or will pay him what he wants.

I guess NFL GM's aren't as enamored with a 29 year old RB whose performance has declined the way the fans are who have no real negative repercussions when spouting they would make it rain to get him.

It's all John Idzik's fault. He's too slow and the rest of the NFL can't catch up.

That's pretty much it. Runningbacks are dirt cheap nowadays and "CJ2K" is probably deluded enough to think he's going to get paid like a 2000 yard rusher instead of an aging player at a position where players tend to fall off the map at his age. I doubt he gets signed anytime soon, unless his agent comes down to earth and brings him with.

We don't contact anyone right away, it shows weakness and will cost you $ to play that way. Our GM is smart, let CJ find out what the market is and once he accepts the reality of the situation, then we come in and make an offer that's fair to us. If he does not like, we move on. Its smart business and in the long term, we will benefit because we will have the $ to resign our super stars, not lose them like the Cowboys and other idiots do. Been waiting 33 years, I want a nice run before they bury me. I can deal with it, can you????

Very very few people can deal with it, and it's sad. We finally have a guy at the helm who understands how to build a team set for longerm success and we have people whining about how he isn't dropping 10's of millions of dollars in the first true offseason of our rebuild.... where we have 12 picks in the upcoming draft.

He has probably had a couple of teams throw some numbers at his agent but none near where he wanted to be. Tough coming to the realization that he will be lucky to get half as much as the $8M he was originally under contract for this year.

I see him getting 2 years at 4 million per year I would welcome that contract ! heck give him 3 for 12 with only 8 guaranteed.

Keep in mind Curtis Martin avg'd 3.8 a carry in his 6th year and came back with 3 years of 4.5/1513 4.2/1094 4.1/1308

Not to mention he has far less carries as Martin had coming into year 7, 1742... as CM had over 2000...

The Curtis Martin comparison makes me cringe a little. I don't think many people have his work ethic..
