This is getting almost comical. This by the way was a Seattle publication :)
Now please leave the personal attacks at me and Fla Jet at the effing door. Our opinions are vaild. He's a freakin glorified cap guy. You believe what you want to believe and I will believe the truth lol.

Seriously though, this article sums up EXACTLY what he spent 5 years in Seattle doing .... overseeing the cap. Get out my face hehe. Keep posting the inconclusive suggestive nonsense.

Lol NYDN is notoriously unreliable. Manish Mehta also writes for them. Lazy journalism at it's best. Quote from this article:

"The Jets are going to be bad next season. They would be bad no matter who Johnson hired. But now the perception will be it's Idzik's fault because he's not a football guy."

The name of this article by Rich Cimini?

A football man down to the core

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8860314/new-york-jets-gm-john-idzik-football-man-core

    It says:

"Idzik remained with the team after Ruskell resigned, and in the past three years has been primarily in charge of managing Seattle's salary cap."

John Idzik spent 9 years with the Seahawks. This says nothing about the time in his 20+ year career before 2010.

Because the article said that over the last 3 years there he was in charge of managing Seattle's cap means " He's a freakin glorified cap guy" even though the GM with Seattle said, "I met him a long time ago as a pro scout, so I know he was scouting before he got into the whole cap stuff. He did the cap stuff because when the cap came into effect, he was the smartest man in the building to negotiate contracts. Those guys tend to get [pidgeonholed]."

You are right, this is comical.

Figured I would increase the font size since you either have ignored it or couldn't see it.

Yeah good luck. I just read through this whole thread and it got hijacked with this shit on page 2. This thread has little to do about the OP anymore.

Straight from the mouth of Rich McKay. He's a well rounded front office man that worked in all phases of the FO for a team that built one of the best defenses in the history of the league. Not just a cap guy, halfhead.

Mike Tannenbaum was just as well rounded I guess. Hey, I scouted too. I get the clear picture that Idzik was a nobody in the room but was highly ambitious and it was quoted that he pretty much begged and pleaded to go on scouting trips in Arizona to better round himself out for a better job. Ppl believe what they want to believe. I post a Seattle article which said he was a money man for years and just oversaw the cap. You guys ignore it. I post Gary Meyers and u guys who have no idea how journalism and quoting sources label the article not credible bc that's what you choose. Im not saying he never scouted ... Obviously he begged his way into scouting trips which is reported ... Duh I get it. But as the article correctly points out he never drafted a guy, never had a say in who was drafted, never had a say in signing free agents. He kissed enough bootie in his career where ppl threw him a bone here and there. Happens all the freakin time. You ppl are naive if u think not. Also fine ... He's a scout and a pro personnel guy than I guess mike Tannebaum was too right ? He went on "scouting trips". Terry Bradway and his crew still run the draft and set the boards. Idzik is probably trying to absorb but he will either sink or swim in his career. I hope he excels for sure. But if he falls flat on his face I have no doubt that a large reason would be because he is just not a personnel guy. He's a cap guy. Trying to learn how to be a personnel guy. I hope he does.

dude, who cares? This would been have more relevant before he was hired. He is our GM now and already has run a draft for us, and last years draft was pretty damn good. He could have been a janitor before for all I care, he has already gotten some results and let's see how he does with the upcoming draft.

Yeah, the only thing that is clear is that you are the one who will believe what he wants to believe. You say the bolded things "Were reported" when they came from an article heavily laden with "anonymous sources" by a shitbag like Gary Myers. You are given a counter-argument of direct quotes from 4 different NFL GMs and you dismiss them. You have as much against Idzik as some of our worthless, talentless beat writers,

He ran the draft as much as the pres ran the special ops mission to get Osama. He is the one with the final say. The scouting dept, led by Terry Bradway run the draft ... The scouts. Idzik as a GM with final say leaned on their info and made his decisions based on their recommendations. Afterall they are the scouts. Idzik is a wanna be scout (he begged to go on scouting trips in AZ. That was not his role). But hey I'm not against Idzik I hope he flourishes and learns a thing or two about evaluating pro personnel.
