I like Bridgewater. But taking him the first round solves nothing. We still need offensive weapons. Why not just draft them and see what Geno can do? He was given no help at all last season.
I understand where you're coming from, but disagree. I like Geno a lot, but there are still a lot of questions about him. Teddy is a much better prospect, who doesn't have the issues taking snaps from under center or other fundamentals issues that Geno may still be working to correct, and may never be able to correct. Teddy is a solid franchise QB prospect. Adding him would all but guarantee that the Jets won't have to look any further for their QB of the future...it would be either Teddy or Geno, and if both developed they'd have great security or could trade one for multiple high picks.
I'm not on board with this. You cite Reed and Mercilus as reasons to draft Clowney... What about Fitzpatrick, Keenum, and Yates as a reason to draft the top QB? I think Ma ziel goes 1, Carr goes 3, and Bridgewater goes 4 or 5. JMO.
This is backwards. You build around a stud QB, you don't prop up an average one. If you want to build a consistent winner it's all about finding a true franchise QB, not putting massive talent around a flawed one. _
If you had no Andrew Luck and no RGIII in 2012 and all the juniors from that class jumped into the draft you'd have had Matt Barkley and Landry Jones both looked at as potential 1st round picks and even maybe top 10, particularly Barkley. That's where we are right now in 2014. There's no Luck this year and no RGIII and all the juniors people are raving about jumped into the draft alongside a sophomore. Just think about it.
You've been dumping on this class since September. Matt Barkley and Landry Jones were never Teddy or Manziel. Ever. Bortles and Carr are better than either of them have ever been too. Just think about it. _
Clowney is just too good to pass, I mean if the Redskins had gotten the first overall thus giving it to the Rams, then maybe you consider passing on Clowney since you have Chris Long and Robert Quinn. Adding Clowney and Garropolo in the second is adding better talent then Any first round QB and whoever they'd take at the top of the second, I guarantee that.
If they get Garroplo. And as great a prospect as Clowney is, would anyone be shocked if he became a dog? He didn't show the greatest motor his entire senior season. Literally the entire season. _
That's a bit of an overblown narrative honestly, he was double and triple teamed constantly. The Texans pick #1 in the second, who would take Garropolo in the first round? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...jadeveon-clowney-quitting-on-the-field-or-not
It's funny how one guy here has been pumping him up for the past year as the greatest defensive player in ages and it's the same guy dumping on all the QBs for the past year. So Clowney has done NOTHING but shit the bed and act like a dog for a year and the same poster is continuing to pump up Clowney as the greatest ever and dump on QBs who have had fantastic years. Too funny. Clowney might be an all-time great. But wouldn't shock me if he became Mario Williams. _
Who knows, he's flying up the boards. Cleveland at 26 is a very real possibility. Don't get me wrong, Clowney is a freak and possibly a 10 year all pro. But it wouldn't shock me if he became a dog or topped out at Mario Williams. _
It's funny how all these QB haters are dumping on the QBs, but the greatest defender since LT, who has done nothing but dogged it all year, is still the golden child. _
It'd be a very interesting draft if this was the way it went down. How many times in NFL history have 3 guys of that stature gone in the 1st round, let alone in the top 5? I think there is so much smoke blowing right now that it's hard to figure out what's real and what's an illusion. 3 QB's under 6'3" in the top 5. I guess it could happen but I'll need to see it to believe it. The long interval between the combine and the draft is definitely working against the QB's at this point. There's nothing they can do to improve their status and it's on the slide when all the hype has turned into hard numbers and film. The logical choices for Houston are to trade down or take Clowney. It's not that Clowney is guaranteed to be great but he's a much better choice than any of the QB's. After that you get teams that have needs at several positions and there's a better pick than a QB available all the way down to the point that Matthews, Watkins and Mack are off the board. Robinson, Evans and Lewan are probably in that group also although various questions could lead to a team deciding a QB was a similarly safe pick and wiping out the talent differential in the process.
Yes, they were ... They both were mocked to go in the first round before they made decisions to come back for their senior years You keep panning those who don't believe in this years qb class but your agenda is just as transparent
This time last year Geno Smith, EJ Manuel and Ryan Nassib were all first round picks. A lot can change.
I'm not talking mocked, I'm talking the players that they were. Barkley was overhyped to the max, his last year he was pretty mediocre to awful before getting hurt. Teddy or Manziel or Carr never had that drop off. And we all have agendas. _
That's the funny thing, while they were "mocked" as first rounders, none of them ever were nor should they have been. I love what Nassib did for my Orangemen but he was merely ok in college and was never a big time NFL prospect. To believe he was ever first round worthy is silly, it was hype. _
