A lot of people keep pot-bellied pigs as pets. Arguably one of the most intelligent creatures on Earth.

Serious question--do folks seriously do 2 years in Leavenworth for selling a few dime bags of pot? Or are you saying major drug dealers?

Because it SOUNDS like you're saying some guy on a street corner selling a little weed, first time offender, does hard time in a federal penitentiary.

And I'm not sure that's right, but I don't know. I don't smoke pot and none of my friends sell it, much less get arrested for it and MUCH less go to Leavenworth for it. I thought first and even second time offenders get pled out all the time?

    Just asking.

You talk to anyone who has been in prision and i mean state prision where most felons go. They would trade 3 months in a state prison for 2 years in a federal prison
90% of the time. Levinworth lol

In NJ cant speak for ATL 7 grams or more can can get you a year just for possession, add in distribution to that 7 gram and it becomes a maximum
of 3 years for a qtr ounce.

I'm not challenging your right to free speech. I just oppose any attempt to moralize the issue like we love and care for animals so much, when quite the opposite is the truth. We love some animals and the rest are mince meat and purses. Period.

For a first time offender? Sounds a bit high (no pun).

And I really don't know anyone who's ever been in prison so I wouldn't have any clue as to whether Leavenworth is better or worse than a state prison.

That's why I prefaced with, serious question.

I don't think that Vick needs my endorsement, and never claimed that he does. That's lucky for him, since he'll never get it. And of course, I have the same self-righteous indignation that anybody has when they dislike somebody based on what they've done. You'd be lying if you claim that you don't partake in that activity about certain people. Judging me for judging him would be hypocritical.

Some people like the Jets, but despise Vick, dude. This petition is all about various people protesting the guy's presence in their backyard. They find the man reprehensible, just like YOU or anybody else finds certain individuals reprehensible. Do I think that the petition will have any affect? No. Trust me, there will be unhappy people everywhere Vick goes when they are virtually put in a position to embrace him.

Whether or not you agree, you should at least be able to understand why people feel that way about him. If not, then there is no point of talking to you about this.

The only problem I have is with Michael Vick himself.

Thats because i don't look at pets as just animals being a dog lover and having had one save my families lives, i consider mine as a many do a part of my family. This like i have said numerous times in this thread and previous ones is an opinion of mine that many others share but still mine.

Sadly yes. Not that im saying every first time offender will get this. Typically anything under an ounce over the last half decade will get pleaded down
to simple possession charges but even a simple possession charge can change your employment options dramatically.

Federal prison are often referred to as "Club Fed" as they typically have everything from pools to tennis courts. Cable tv in most of them along with
a vast majority even catering to food preferences and preferred sleeping tendencies and provide "release visits" (sexual time with a spouse).

The down side to federal time is instead of being up for parole after 60% of your time served you must stay for a minimum of 90-95%.

I can appreciate that people do not like Michael Vick for what he has done. What I cannot understand is how these same people would expect the Jets who have given him a contract not to allow him to come to camp. I would have some respect for this petition if it stood on principle and said because the NY Jets Football Club would hire an individual with Michal Vick's past, the Jets should not bel allowed to use the facilites. But singling him out and letting the team who gave him tht contract off the hook seems very weak minded and easy to me.

But we can agree to disagree...

Petitions never change anything. People act like this country is a true democracy and that a lot of people fighting for a cause will automatically make it reality. That's not even close to how things work here. Even if everyone in America signed that petition, Vick would still play for the Jets. So many people have no clue what forgiveness or redemption means and that mentality is just plain sad and pessimistic. It's not surprising at all that Jets fans exhibit this behavior constantly.

I said they are LIKE HUMANS in some capacity .I am sorry dogs taste sooo good and cats um ymmmy. Some ppl can't or choose not to have a child and a dog/cat are like their family. Last time I checked, Dogs can do so much more to human kind then a cow besides for FOOD. They are great companions and have a great sense of tracking that could save a lost kids life just by the sniff of a shirt. They Guard our property and Family's. All I am saying is some animals are meant to eat and some are meant to do other things. Dogs are in the working class. A dog can help a lonely person who needs companionship . You don't even know the half. In India they worship elephants ,Other country's like China are killing them just for their tusks. Us ppl are the one's over-populating and just throwing trash around especially in NY , Destroying our beloved plant. I am not a tree hugger. I am stating that Pits are great animals that are not meant for fighting each other for the pleasure of gangbangers. They can be very gentle and can just wanna live a fair life.

Do you realize that the point I tried to make is that some animals are not meant for hunting but the opposite cause they are breed to be pets and taste like crap cause I am sure starving ppl in bad situations have ate humans, dogs and whatever can keep them alive. Those are in desperate situations. In our modern society , we have animals that are bred for companionship and I believe their IS a reason God put them here for our enjoyment.
Killing a cow is food and fine unless it is wasted by stuffing it in a tiny cage and force feeding it milk to make sure it gains no muscle is what we call VEAL and no I don't eat veal cause it is a waste of a cow that can feed 20 ppl for the enjoyment of 1 or 2 fat ppl.
