I wouldn't say we are going backwards that's not even possible we are the youngest team in the league or top 2.Right now I feel like if we didn't have the hole oppisite Millner a TE and one more WR we would be right there with everybody else. And who is Tammy?we arennnt that far away
So you see what I mean. People are entitled to their feelings of course but why f***ing bother if it makes you that unhappy?
I would say there little shot Goodson is back, this guy has been a train wreck. He wasn't here 10 minutes and is involved in a serious arrest. Comes off suspension and that suffers a major injury. I'm sure idzik is just waiting for him to be medically clearned so they can release him.
A lot of Idziks "low risk high reward" signings last year ended up this way.Cribbs injured,Goodson arrested and injured,Winslow suspended during season,ed reed looked like my grandfather trying to play football,Barnes injured put on IR.The only one that panned out was Nelson .I expect Patterson and Jacoby Ford to be added to this list by week 7
I can't stand idziks approach, all his believers on here are going to say, that's the idea behind " low risk high reward" who cares when they don't pan out. Lol cribbs he was an upgrade while he was healthy. Barnes hopefully he plays this year and stays healthy Winslow is insane. Goodson nothing needs to be said. Reed may be on Ryan. Patterson I fully expect to be hurt all year on some level. Ford whats his issue concussion ?
Impossible to know how old teams are for this coming season as rosters aren't built yet. But going into last season (after cutdown day) the whole AFC East was young. Youngest was the Rams followed by the Browns 3rd- Bills 7th- Jets 9th- Dolphins 11th- Pats According to this article anyway. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...oungest-Lions-are-the-oldest-Eagles-10th.html
ouch Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN 2m ESPN analyst (and former Jet) Mark Brunell on new Jets WR Eric Decker: "He is a product of Peyton Manning. Without a doubt." #nyj
Mark Brunel is just looking to make headlines as a journalist because he is irrelevant at ESPN,Decker caught 44 balls and 8 Tds with Tebow at QB ,I m expecting Decker to catch atleast 70 and have atleast 7 Tds
Which is why his last two seasons look just like his last year in college. Players tend to establish a level they are capable of playing at in college and then often rise to it when circumstances permit in the pros. BTW, when you post these days the first thing I usually think is "ouch." If you want to take every negative meme about the Jets and amplify it then have at it. It makes you look like a weak fool but that's your choice.
I have seen you post around the same amount of positive and negative on any given subject but it's usually the extreme of each one which makes me think you are bipolar
How can you say the line wasn't a need when our rushing defense was ranked 26th, and the amount of sacks for the team was near the bottom of the league? OLB was a need and drafting Richardson took care of that need indirectly. Perhaps they figured Richardson had more potential and had better value than Jarvis Jones at that spot, and based on production they were dead on! All of our OLBs were old and washed up before that. This moved a young talent to OLB which is one of our biggest needs. Coples played just fine at OLB as he got more experience. At first he was injured and had some rough patches adjusting but he was great during the last half of the season. Garay was a plug n play backup, Harrison hadn't shown much at that point, and neither did Ellis. You act like we had an all star line up, but it was just Mo Wilkerson and Coples. Without Po'uha there was a big gap to fill. At corner we had an aging Cromartie and Kyle Wilson. I'm sorry, but if you are comfortable with those 2 plus Isaiah Trufant, then I really don't know what to tell you. Our secondary got exploited last year, if we didn't have Milliner, it would have been way worse and I doubt we're even debating this or that we even go .500. Yeah, it was a big need. If the best guy available was an ILB, RB, Center, etc we would have passed because it wasn't a need. You could say Idzik drafts the best player available BASED on team need, but he's not going to just draft the best prospect out of everyone on the board because he's there and available. Let him prove me wrong and draft DL this year. Trust me, it ain't going to happen, even if the Hulk himself is available at #18. It's also very possible that if Austin was available at 9 and Warmack at 13, that they would have been the 2 early picks. I'm glad we didn't reach for Jarvis Jones. Hopefully the scouting dept was rewarded and praised for that decision.
Heh. Spot on here. I for the life of me can't understand why some posters here view the BPA concept as some sort of unchallenged, beyond question metric for judging personnel moves. Imo it makes no sense to ignore need in the draft.
I could very well be wrong, but when I read posters using BPA, usually in follow up posts it seems BPA really means "don't reach because that player fits a need". That in itself is something to keep in mind, but it doesn't mean best player available. That's just the way I've read it, but it does make it confusing because I think overall most people saying BPA mean best player available that fits a needs/don't reach. That's the way I read it, but maybe I'm giving everyone too much credit.
Yep. Whenever I hear a team talk about BPA it's in the context of "BPA on our board". When teams build their draft boards, you better believe that they are taking need into account. This isn't Madden where all players have an overall rating set in stone and taking BPA means picking the player with the highest overall Madden rating, and I think a lot of people talk about BPA with that image in their minds.
yeah I think of that a lot. Who's BPA? is it ranked by how high a player is on CBS's draft board or something? I think the philosophy more or less means they won't pass up on talent at a currently average held position for the sake of addressing a need higher than they needed to. In the context of this year, If Mack falls to them, they pick Mack despite OLB not being as pressing a need as WR or even CB. If the value as they see it is relative from all players left or in other words there isn;t an OBVIOUS pick you best believe they'll go with a need. that said unless things fall a certain way I expect a WR, give that possibility a 60% chance of happening.
Agree, I think the with the Jets' need at WR and the depth of talent at that position in this year's draft, the odds are pretty good for WR.
Unfortunately I think BPA means different things to different people here. The term's literal meaning imo does not acknowledge need, and I have seen some here who literally deny the Jets took need into account in last year's draft, which is ridiculous. But if it merely means don't reach to fill a need, well of course that is true, but also not controversial.
