In this particular post, all I said was IF he was a troll that's a sad amount of time to to dedicate to a website. Not sure how that makes me a schmuck. If I bash anyone, it is only because they are happy in ignorance. If any mods have an issue with any of the posts I make it is news to me, as I have been neither warned nor blocked, ever. If they do, I'd welcome the feedback.
At this point, we're talking about your tone with whatever you say to posters on here. Does it heighten your self-esteem calling others "happy in ignorance". Have you ever read Socrates?
Let me start by saying I never said BPA meant anything other than BPA on their draft board. I think that with the lack of overall talent on the Jets roster last season, their draft board consisted of every player in the draft, starting of course with who they thought were the best. Each team constructs their board separately from every other team, so there is no universal order of BPA. It depends on the consensus of the scouting department, coaching staff, and GM's office. Personally, if I had to guess I think their draft board looked more like: Eric Fisher Dion Jordan Dee Milliner Sheldon Richardson etc, etc Assuming they are telling the truth about getting two of their top 4 that is. Po'uha and DeVito both left in the same offseason actually, back in 2013. After FA, before the draft, our defensive line unit consisted of Muhammad Wilkerson, Kenrick Ellis, Damon Harrison, Quinton Coples, Antonio Garay. 5 guys is usually what we keep as our defensive line, any others are usually cut during camp. As I was debating with Big Blocker, there was no word out of Jets land that Coples was going to be playing the majority of his snaps as an OLB from before the draft. Even if that was something they were internally thinking about, they just signed Garay who could play at a couple different interior positions, giving them some versatility. Although Revis was traded, Cromartie had just come off an all-pro level season. I have been watching 2010 games again as well and Cromartie actually played lights out when matching up against #1 WRs that year too. There were a number of games Revis was either out, or hurt, where they matched Cro up against the #1. Some games they didn't have Revis or Cro shadow a WR either, and they kept to their own side, and Cro had a very underrated season. So although they may have been a bit thin at CB, but weren't going to die without a top 5 talent at CB either. OG was actually a much more dire need, because our depth before the draft there was Willie Colon, Vlad Ducasse, and Stephen Peterman. That is pretty terrible. Colon was ok but the idea of starting Big Vlad or Stevie P still makes me shudder. If Dion Jordan was there at 9, you really think we wouldn't have taken him and kept Coples at DE? The team was so void of talent last year your argument is made a little shallow due to the fact that you could argue most every position on the team was a need, except DL. That certainly was the popular view at the time anyway.
If I have been ornery lately, it's only because I've been out of weed for a few days lol. I have disagreed with plenty of people on this site this offseason, some I have perfectly calm, average conversations with. I don't dispute the fact that I have much distain for those who are ignorant but do not seek to improve their football knowledge. If someone is going to whine about how the front office is handling things, but they clearly don't understand why or how things are happening then yes I will call them out. If someone is going to make an incorrect statement, or ignorant generalization, yes I will call them out as well. If you don't understand why something is happening, there are many knowledgable posters on this site who are more than happy to offer their insight, which they have carefully spent time compiling through many sources. If you don't want that person to be me, that's fine, I don't care, there are others. Anyone who takes the time to research the answer to a question they have has my respect, those who are too lazy and jump straight to whining about what they don't understand do not. If you don't like my tone, sorry, but don't make random statements or arguments without bothering to make sure it's right.
For all of you who think Idzik hasn't done anything in FA and was too cheap, check out the following article: The 13 Worst Signings from NFL Free Agency http://wallstcheatsheet.com/sports/...m_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=feed_desktop&ref=OB
You claimed Rex Ryan never played with a true FS and yet Kerry Rhodes was our FS when we were the #1 defense in the league...seems like a case of being lazy and making an argument that had no ground whatsoever. Your response was a backpedal, saying that Rhodes was benched for Eric Smith at one point and that's why you forgot. Yeah, a nice statement grounded in your flawless approach to studying of the Jets. Show me the evidence that the Jets top four consisted of Eric Fisher and Dion Jordan. I'm almost positive it was reported Tavon was in their top 4, so how could Fisher and Jordan be there? You act like you're above everyone here, you're not. And you're not getting any smarter smoking bud
I admitted I forgot about Kerry Rhodes, so what? I never said people can't make mistakes. And he was benched for Eric Smith, and traded immediately following that season. If a coach benches a talented FS for a less talented SS, proceeds to trade that FS away, and then starts two SS for 60 out of the next 67 games, it makes sense to say he prefers 2 SS. So while I did make a mistake, and admit it, it really doesn't take away from my point. I said "If I had to guess" about the top four, and I never said you were incorrect about your top 4. You can't expect someone to show proof for something they specifically stated was purely a guess, which is why I didn't ask for proof from you about your top four. We were both purely speculating. Neither of us can be correct or incorrect on that. On the other hand, when you say you are almost positive about something, proof is kind of important, otherwise it seems kind of convenient that you are vaguely remembering something that fits your argument. If someone makes a mistake about something, and then admits they are wrong I have no problem with that. When someone is too lazy to look up facts and whines on a message board, I am disdainful of that.
I'd expect them to have a strong draft just like i'd expect every team to in this fruitful of a class. But they made a major mistake this offseason by concentrating WAY too much on matching up w/ Denver. They are extremely vulnerable in their front 7 as well as the interior of their OL. And if they think re-signing Edelman & bringing in Brandon Lafell are the answer to their receiving woes..they are kidding themselves. They'll be alot more sturdy on the edges of their D..especially against big plays..but did they forget they play in the AFC in the northeast no less?Pittsburgh,Cincy,Baltimore & Yes even the Jets are all physical hit you in the mouth types which will cause them a lot of issues.
This is a really good assessment of the situation for the Pats. They have Peyton Manning on the brain just like the Jets did after 2009. They're just as likely to be facing a physical team trying to run them over next year, just like the Jets in 2010. Even if they get Manning in the AFC Championship Game they're likely to be facing a physical team trying to run them over in the Super Bowl. They're preparing to fight the last war and the odds are better than 50/50 they have the next one on their hands instead.
I think a guy like Stephon Tuitt could really help their DL, or a guy like Jace Amaro would really help their receiving corp. They're far from done yet, just as we aren't.
They're definitely gonna get better in this draft. But they're also in a much different spot than the Jets. Jets are about to have a drastic youth movement. You can't bring in 12 rookies & NOT have a youth movement. They can afford(if their fan base lets them) to let their youngsters fight through growing pains & stick to their respective development plans. Patriots don't have that luxury. They have an aging franchise QB, a top heavy roster(both monetarily & talent wise) & a head coach looking to ride into the sunset. While the Patriots can "fill needs" on paper via the draft...will they in actuality be filling the need when the opening whistle blows? Most rookies do in fact take time & plugging holes w/ them(especially multiple holes) rarely works out. Tuitt would be a great pick for them..but how's that work w/ Wilfork? Does one of them move to the 5 technique for the short term? I'm not sure either of them have the quickness to handle that role. More likely Tuitt is splits time w/ Wilfork early before taking over likely next season. That still leaves them w/ holes in the LB corps as well as up front.
Jets trying to build a team is useless. Most of their picks never made it. Once in a while they hit on mo will or Richardson. Tammy had to make a big trade to get revis. And farce and Braylon and Holmes and cro. Jets were A contending team from 2008 -2011 He new his scouting dept was awful so he. Traded to put his team in contention. Idzix doesn't care about 45 years with no SB. He doesn't know the pain we suffered through or give a crap about. We are picking middle of each round and 3 extra picks end of 6th round. Most will be cut. He should have brought in guys in fa and use the draft for development. We are so far behind the pats Denver colts kc ad. Going backwards again Dump idzik
I love football as much as anyone on this board, but you need to have other things in your life to get satisfaction from. 45 years of suffering? You make it sound like you've been in solitary confinement with no glimpse of the sun. No one forces anyone to be a heavily invested football fan, it is a choice. If you've been through so much pain and suffering as a result of the New York Jets, we live in a modern world where you have access to basically anything you could want. If you genuinely believe it is so unlikely you will enjoy football this season or next season, it doesn't really seem like an intelligent choice to keep coming back to it. No one is ever given martyr status for being a voluntary fan of a bad football team, especially when they whine about it. We all make the choice to invest our time, energy, and money into this team, so if it seems like a bad investment, stop.
Just by reading this post you really must not have been alive during the really bad times with the Jets, you probably became a fan during "Hard Knocks" because you clearly are missing the point here and sound like someone unfamiliar with the teams hardaches and failures
Not at all. I've had my fair share of disappointment in this team, and been made fun of by numerous other fans for being a Jets supporter. The difference is it doesn't bother me because I don't place any kind of value on myself based on how the New York Jets play. Of course there was/is disappointment after games, and I'm not always in a great mood. But there are so many other things to find enjoyment in; friends, women, weed, women, great food, women... I will never support a team other than the Jets, they are my team. That being said, I don't go around whining that "the Jets trying to build a team is useless" because if that's how you feel what's the point of liking football? If someone is really that pessimistic about this team, just stop following them so closely. It is a CHOICE. If you feel that it is not a choice, you seriously need to re-evaluate the control you have over your own mind, because the NFL has brainwashed you.
When you lose an all pro future hall of famer, yeah, CB becomes a big need. When your rushing defense is ranked 26th in the league, the defensive front becomes a big need. Going into the draft it was obvious that our biggest needs were WR, CB, Oline, OLB. Then you look at the draft class and it was deep with defensive players and linesmen. Besides Tavon Austin there weren't really any standout WRs. Instead of OLB, they decided to go with the beast Richardson and move Coples over. It worked out. Many folks are suggesting that Idzik hasn't drafted based on need, when all of his picks were big needs. Why else would he grab 3 olinesmen in a row? Because they looked cute? They were the best players available, period. Many folks are suggesting that successful GMs always take the best player available, regardless of position, but that's nonsensical. If anybody seriously believes that Idzik will draft a DE / DT if it happens to be the best player available, they need to pass whatever they are smoking over this way.
This has to be one of the most poorly constructed posts I've ever read on a sports forum in my life. I can't tell if it's satire or the drunken nonsensical rant of a madman. You're right. Idzik doesn't care about 45 years of "suffering" or the petty emotions of old fans with mental health issues. He cares about the future and so should the fans. The past is irrelevant to what Idzik is trying to create. This is a new beginning. What matters is how we go forward, not what already happened in the past. If Idzik decided to go against his philosophy and just sign all the big name FAs at the expense of the future just to ease the suffering of the senile fans, then he would be a horrible GM. Trust me, when your favorite sports team struggling is the biggest problem in your life, your life is good. We're talking sports and entertainment here. If anybody is truly suffering over a sports team, they need to re-evaluate their life.
Yeah we lost an all pro future HoF'er, but we had another all pro on the team. When you have an all pro and a past first round pick on the team, CB isn't a dire need. Granted Wilson may not have been everything we hoped, but he is a talented player and we would have gotten by without drafting a CB in the top 10 just fine. OG was a bigger need considering before the draft we would have had to start Stephen Peterman or Vlad Ducasse at RG, and that is what I call a need. Instead of drafting the highly touted guard that went one pick after we chose Dee (Chance Warmack). You didn't list D-line as a need, you listed OLB. On the D-line we had Kenrick Ellis, Damon Harrison, Muhammad Wilkerson, Quinton Coples, and Antonio Garay. As long as we drafted a DL at some point in the draft, we could have easily moved Coples to "OLB" (I put that in quotes because even to this day he isn't really an OLB, he's a modified D-lineman). If we were drafting for need, we could have drafted the highly touted OLB that went only 3 picks after we chose Sheldon (Jarvis Jones). Instead of either of those options, we drafted the best players available. Chance Warmack was a good prospect and a big need, but Dee was the best available. Jarvis Jones was a good prospect and a big need, but Sheldon was the best available. In the second round, we could have drafted a highly regarded WR prospect (Robert Woods, who went two picks after we chose Geno), but the fact that Geno fell and the value of the QB position dictated that we pick him. There were players available that met 3 of the biggest needs you listed, and went right after our picks, but instead we picked players that for the most part did not fall under the needs you listed. Why? Because they were the Best Prospect Available.
Who ever said the jets trying to build a team is useless?I dont think anyone feels that way .I think the people upset about Idzik and free agency juat expected more this offseason and feel let down. The only thing I'm mad about is the fact that we created a huge hole at cornerback again
