Looks like Jets and Atlanta at this point and Atlanta may not be in either. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...ing-the-charge?campaign=Twitter_atl_wesseling
I belive his best years are behind him and hes looking for that final pay check. I dont think there will be a RB selected in the first round, leaving great value in the second. Not many teams look at RB like the Jets have in the past.
Completely different types of backs though. Johnson would give us what we were hoping to get out of Goodson last year and then some.
Obviously, I never said they were similar backs, and if you've read any of my posts I'd like to add Johnson to the back field at the right price. I was responding to a post claiming he was light years better, which is a massive exaggeration.
He wouldn't be replacing Ivory though, I think it is fair to say he is light years better than Powell and Goodson who will be impacted the most.
Lol this doesn't need to be explained to me. The post was "light years ahead of anything else we have" Not "light years better than Powell and the most likely imprisoned Goodson"
Ok, I will rephrase it..he has 6 straight 1000+ years and when ANY of our backs have one he will be on an even plane with them. Call it whatever you want.
Chris Ivory may not have had 1,000 yards but he had 4.6 yards per carry last year, and if he had as many carries as CJ that projects to 1,283 yards, 200 more than CJ had. Chris Johnson only had 3.9 yards per carry last year, and he had a better offensive line. I'm not trying to say Ivory is better but you just said whatever he has left in the tank is lightyears better than anything we have, which I dispute.
So what? When he is good enough that they think he can actually get first downs they will let him try. And if you think Johnson had a better OL than the Jets last year you are kidding yourself. NFL network did a peice on Friday on how bad the Titans line was and that half the time Johnson got the ball with defensive players already in the backfield.
No they wouldn't. The jets have much greater needs at other positions to upgrade than RB that a second round pick would be better used on. Just because some quality backs will be available in the 2nd doesn't mean the Jets will be looking RB then, and they shouldn't be with Ivory and Powell. Signing Johnson and drafting a position of greater need in the 2nd is a much better strategy than ignoring those other positions and drafting a RB.
You figured it out, the coaching staff has no faith in Chris Ivory. You really hit it on the head, it has nothing to do with how bad our WR and QB play was. It had nothing to do with the fact that teams put 8 in the box every play and made us go 3 and out, resulting in far fewer offensive snaps than most teams. I should have known that Chris Ivory should have been expected to shoulder the load of the entire offense with absolutely no help around him. How silly of me for thinking it is unrealistic to expect our best offensive weapon should have run it 1st, 2nd and 3rd down and get a 1st down every time. Good thing you're here to set me straight. The fact that Ivory had 4.6 yards per carry on such a putrid offense is miraculous.
You can't talk facts with some of these guys. They would just rather assume that a guy that has been on the decline the last 3 years will go to a new team and miraculously turn it around.
I think some of you are spoiled by his 2000 yard year and want that year... anything less, not interested... 1100 yards with a crap OL is fine by me a 1 or 2 year deal for around 8 to 10 million will not kill our future. might as well sign him and take a RB in the 4th and let em develop.
CJ never fell off lol. I mean i guess when u set the bar that high people set kinda unfair expectations for ya but i know plenty of RBs that never run for 1000 yards WHILE sharing the carries like CJ does faithfully year in and year out. As if 2000 yrd seasons are common or something. Dude had a breakout year, but he's human, and still a very above average RB. Got at least 2,3 yrs left of doing his thing . And he's never missed games due to injury maybe ONE game.
