I don't see a good reason to not get him. If we were going to draft one, it wouldn't be til the later rounds any way. Money isn't an issue. There is literally no reason.
He still has a couple of good years in him in my opinion and probably not that expensive, no reason they can't take Johnson and taker a 4-6th rd RB
I agree, he certainly could help, a lethargic offense, which we have. Just hate to see Powell, cast aside
Totally agree and who cares if its more? Who cares how much money he costs in a 2 year deal max. You set it up for this to be the big cap hit year and just do it. This is a GOOD gamble. If the Jets dont go after this guy...ground and pound young qb...if they do not..its exactly what the Mets are doing. If I were a Met fan, I would egg that building morning, noon and night. You can sit there and argue all day long not to spend the money on long term decent chances...you cant sit there with this much money and not roll the dice for several reasons: 1. Is it possible that it was not Johnson slowing down much at all..but a terrible Oline. 2. A terrible offense. Could be baby stretches but what if thats true? Roll the dice and spend the money.
questionable work ethic... hm. I'm not expecting to be in jets green and white. won't hype myself up for this happening.
NFL: AroundTheLeague @NFL_ATL 12m Chris Johnson tracker update: Bills' interest in running back reportedly overblown. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000339444/article/chris-johnson-tracker-ny-jets-atlanta-falcons-in-mix?campaign=Twitter_atl… Bills out. CJ2Jets?
I just saw that as well. Bleacher Report says the Cowboys are out as well. Maybe this will happen. I just hope Idzik doesn't try to lowball him. The lack of interest is certainly driving down the price though.
I think you'd be better off with Ivory/Powell and a young draft pick to be honest. Johnson hasnt shown anything in over 2 years.
Would be nice if they could get him on a 1 year deal. He's a play for contract type of player. Nothing wrong with that if you play it correctly. Signing him to a one year deal after he got humbled by his previous team would be playing his personality correctly as he would be extremely motivated to produce next season. Try to catch lightning in a bottle and worry about hanging onto it if it does happen when the time comes
I kind of an in favor of going DP over most veterans but no draft lock well pay immediate dividends with this rotation as well as Johnson. My biggest worry is that he will go primadona and try to demand more carries
I was reading the article that brought up his work ethic and not sure if it would really be a problem.
yeah like anything else its probably overrated, just bravado misinterpreted as poor character. but still I'm not getting invested in this concept till I see it actually happen.
I love to see guys like Powell do well, guys with limited athleticism but are reliable in what they do. That being said, you know your limitations with Powell. He would still be an important depth, and would be injury insurance. I'm not pounding the table to sign CJ, but if he is available at a good value and the front office likes his attitude, you can't turn down that talent.
Reports from the Titans staff say they hated his work ethic and Ken Wisenhunt didn't like that one of the top paid guys had a "me first" type of attitide and wasn't a "show up first leave last" type of guy.So there are def some concerns with this guy he could end up being a cancer to the rb core,is he worth the risk?I'm honestly not sure,id say yes because even though Ivory made it threw last season without a serious injury he has been injury prone in his carrer and we could use the depth. But what happens to Powell?who showed some flashes last year and was impressive at times
my friend is a huge titans fan and his favorite player in the planet is cj2k. i've seen a lot of interviews with this guy and he's really humble and wants to be the best trust me on that. he has no problems with work ethic
Neither have I, but I think a lot of people are remembering the rather long hold out he had back in 2011. Any time a player holds out he often garners a bad rap, especially since there are numerous talking heads on ESPN and the like who will disagree on purpose. One will say "The Titans need to pay the man!" and the other will say "Football is this guy's job, and he needs to get back on the field! He cares too much about money and not enough about the game!"
